Anyone here know what Maxis is referring in their ad in Thestar.com.my?
It is a count down to midnight, and quoted "This New Year, mobile internet as you know it, will never be the same again. STARTS MIDNIGHT" LTE? |

QUOTE(chuahcs79 @ Dec 31 2012, 04:06 PM) yeah SG now 100Mbps everywhere,. and our MY still need to be satisfy with 1~4Mbps in most area,.. ( wired streamyx ),.. and thanks to maxis at least 7~11Mbps mostly,. Totally agreed... I have terminated my streamyx 1mbps and fully rely on Maxis now Hopefully with LTE coming the ping will be more stable and faster so that online gaming is smooth. Speed wise my area is just so so... 6 - 8Mbps only on E372. |

QUOTE(alf233 @ Jan 1 2013, 12:27 PM) with E392, i was able to get dl ~60Mbps and ul ~15Mbps.. I guess i was the only one in the network that time and in very good signal (SNR > 25) Which maxis package you are using that can use the LTE network? Thought need to register with Maxis first?Added on January 1, 2013, 12:28 pm Yep.. No tweak.. 100% defaultĀ This post has been edited by leecwai: Jan 1 2013, 12:30 PM |

Anyone got lost packets issue that cause the loading of website stops? I ran the pingplotter and found a lot of packets lost.
Any good solution for that? I have to keep refreshing the website to get it loaded. From our MR3420 router, it shows the signal is 54%. Using MF680 |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jan 1 2013, 09:58 PM) I just ran the pingplotter to trace "www.google.com" only. The ping fluctuate like crazy and very unstable. Due to Mf680? or Maxis tower? Even LYN forum I need to refresh a feel times to get the page loaded. This post has been edited by leecwai: Jan 1 2013, 10:13 PM |

QUOTE(malaysianbest @ Jan 2 2013, 07:56 AM) Just found from google..tested with mobile phone...hope it's true... Actually this guy mentioned it in Maxis facebook, using sony xperia V to get that speedtest result and screenshot.----> http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8083/8333899...e18e4ed8a_z.jpg So, question is how he managed to run LTE on this phone? |

QUOTE(alf233 @ Jan 2 2013, 02:30 PM) You are sure right. It will even decrease to <10Mbps if there are too many users. Then if the tower is already congested, whether we are using LTE or 3G, there will be no significant difference. LTE is just like 3G, where resources are shared between users, so the congestion will still happen, and so will the impact to the speeds. The only difference is LTE has more resources compared to 3G, the congestion level will determine the speed that LTE user will get |

QUOTE(alf233 @ Jan 2 2013, 02:43 PM) Yes correct. But with LTE they now have more capacity, so if number of users remain, the congestion will be less. Some example, just example for calculation: Isn't the absolute bandwidth of the tower remained the same? The only difference is LTE provide faster speed between the user's modem and the tower only. So if Maxis doesn't increase the backhaul, we will most likely still stuck with the same speed to international website/server.Before LTE 3G: capacity of tower: 42Mbps; 10 users --> each user get 4.2Mbps After LTE 3G capacity of tower: 42Mbps; LTE capacity of tower 75Mbps; still 10 users which 7 3G users & 3 LTE users --> each 3G user will get 6Mbps & each LTE user get 25Mbps This assumes the number of users remain before and after LTE. And of course in reality the resource allocation is much more complicated, not as easy as calculation above |
