Hi, welcome to this thread! wave.gif Before you start posting on this thread, please spare a minute to read the below message. Thanks. biggrin.gif

You can:
  • Discuss about phone/modem/settings for Maxis 3G/HS 3G.
  • Comment about Maxis 3G/HS 3G.
  • Ask for opinions on Maxis 3G/HS 3G.
You can't:
  • Discuss about piracy or illegal contents.
  • Request forummers to rent out their SIM cards here, this is not a trading platform.
  • Offer to rent out your SIM cards to forummers here, this is not a trading platform.
REMINDER:
  • This package is already a discontinued plan, hence you will not be able to sign up as new subscribers.
  • Still, it's the best for you to check with Maxis if this plan is still allowable for now. We are not liable for any misinformation as we are not working for Maxis.
  • This is NOT Maxis Wireless Broadband thread! There is a separate Maxis WBB thread on this section. Check it out.
  • Until today nobody knows if the so-called corporate plan is really unlimited. So, in the mean time the Biz 68 subscribers can post here.
  • Whatever SKMM or anything besides this plan, please bring your discussion to the dedicated threads.

Before you rant about your slow speed to Maxis Customer Care, please be reminded that speed is affected by few factors:

1) Your device:
-You can't expect it to have 20Mbps when your modem's capability is just running max up to 7.2Mbps.
-You might be having a faulty modem, try switching your SIM card with other modems

2) Your signal coverage:
-If you are not within DC-HSPA+ coverage, then don't expect to have 20Mbps of speed. Be contented with just probably 5Mbps speed, that's probably what your tower is capable of. I know someone who was already running in joy though he only gets 2Mbps on his Maxis. Yes, he is in Mukah, Sarawak.

3) Congested with other users:
-If you are unlucky and you live in an area where there are a lot of similar users like you, be prepared with network congestion. Everyone is fighting with you. Though you might be living in a non-urbanized area, that doesn't mean your area will have good speed. All telco providers will do survey first before doing bandwidth allocation, if you area has low density of users, they will not allocate more speed to that tower. So can't do much thing about this.

4) Timing:
-Avoid performing download activities during golden hours (7-11 p.m.), this is the period where those working folks are back to home and start jamming the line. Be considerate with others. You could queue your downloads to start only after midnight when they go to bed. smile.gif

5) QoS:
-Check your QoS first, it could be your area is only capped to 2480/2480. sweat.gif

OK, after checking through the above steps and you are still very sure that something is wrong with your connection and tower. Login to your Twitter account and start tweeting the Maxis CS. Follow them @MaxisListens and they could respond to you quite swiftly. Lastly, be patient and they will fix your issue soon!

Before I forget, I think it is worth mentioning here that Maxis blocks P2P port in order to provide better speed to other users. Let's not forget there are other needy users out there depending on this connection to do their work and etc. So, don't hog the connection with your P2P activities. The port will only be opened at 1.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m. or 3.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m., depending on your area. So, plan your download activities wisely.

Of course this can be solved with VPN or SeedBox but I'll not further drill into this part. Check out yourself and don't ask me or us how to bypass it.

-Credits to fruitie for the info posted above.

If no jam, no one will built highway anymore. The more Jams the more Highways will be built. Same if Maxis network is fine and well, no one will buy Antennas and Better Modems anymore, so its a blessings in disguise for you if Maxis sucks. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Btw, you have taken over the Best Modem and Antenna seller Category in LYN with your strategy icon_idea.gif notworthy.gif

IDM is the Real Speed which Maxis find hard to Load Balancing whereas, Speedtest is Bull Speed which Maxis control via Balancing.

*
for P2P you must scan for an Open Port, but some Dude ( you knoe sape dia ? ) already inform Maxis most of the available open ports, so unless you knoe how to cari the lobong, else forget abt it till 3am

I read somewhere the purpose of the TX is for users to lower it actually not increase it , but we are too brave and want higher speed, so do it at your own risk. Anyway we will die some day, why worry so much, 21-12-2012 is near too. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Unet,BBnet,MaxisBB,My3G,3GDGnet,Celcom3G,Rosmahnet,Bijanet all also can, pick your choose biggrin.gif

But sometimes I think the APN change everytimes the tower upgrade or down..as before this..before my tower down, bbnet best for me and maxisbb sucks at my place...after the upgrade/down, the APN that suit for me right now maxisbb....cannot do further investigation as doesn't have any modem to test cry.gif

This few day maxis download speed have big increase and no more force speed down to 16mbps after over 24mbps.
My download speed can stand at 3.5MB/s long time.

From Youtube test speed, maxis already able to launch LTE.
maxis able provide LTE speed.

Users,

My area in Bentong, using prepaid Hotlink Broadband and E1762 yields a speed of 250kbps-1mbps most of the time, with highest maybe 1.5mbps but rare

If I use Maxis 3G postpaid package would there possibly be higher speed or is it probably my area tower is congested? I live away from town in a Taman/kampung.

I dont have any 3G postpaid SIM to compare the speed.

Prepaid broadband is having a speed cap of 8640kbps.

Kampung is known for faster speed thanks to less congestion, refer Terengganu and Kelantan case.

1) was it okay with other modems?

2) did you used the steps on the MR3420 V2 thread to overcome E398's issue with V2 latest FW?

Not sure if this is the place to ask this but probably tongue.gif Got the iPhone 4 plan with maxis, Value 1 I think (RM100 with 1GB data etc etc). So got that in March, but I just realized that this month I have 2GB of data to use? o.O I checked through *100# and under Mobile Internet and it says I'm on iData 2 or something, with 2GB of data o.O Is this upgrading universal for all Value Plan users or did Maxis just upgrade my line so I have to pay more...?

Not really consistent though. Was complete shite yesterday afternoon. It went okay-ish during the night.

But today's morning I get pretty good speeds.

My house is a complete mess with all the steel cages my grandfather installed. I basically have no means of trying out the panel I bought from blacktubi. tongue.gif

Unstable connection usually contributed by a bad signal.

Problem could be solved either by using an antenna or try to put your modem near the Window smile.gif

Peak hours now. Dls are kinda shite.

user posted image

Setup:

MF680 (with a low noise fan blowing beneath) -> TL-MR3420 (Openwrt+consistent ping settings) -> Aztech WL568USB wireless card

Pretty much consistently purple light signal (DC HSPA+) now. Not sure why RSSI decreases when switched to HSPA+. I reckon is due heavier loads with HSPA+.

Location of modem kinda weird now due to shitty house location. Will probably switch to dual router setup soon to loosen the load abit. Still no idea on how to mount/use the panel I bought from blacktubi +_+.

I'm using dual panel and that two panels are not helpful.

Yes can, you need to turn on only know which angle is the best what. sweat.gif
I keep on plugging in and out for my both panels.
TS-9 is not that fragile. laugh.gif

thanks for your sharing, very useful info. i dunno whether my panel is finally working, but since it is implemented, the speedtest constantly display at 8mbps, i think my cell tower is qos by 8640 though. cant check with E398, by the way, if i use e1762(7.2 Mbps modem), can i get the actual cell tower qos? lets say 42000?

u need 21Mbps or above modem to check QoS,..

any lower than that , u will only see 8640/8640 QoS notworthy.gif

That could be the reason or congestion in your area.
I sometimes can't get anything >5Mbps too. Need some patience, after a while the speed will come up again.
All thanks to Maxis' inconsistency. sweat.gif

But again, I have to be fair with them.
Over the years, Maxis has improved tremendously

QOS 42000 doesn't mean that you can get the speed until 42Mbps

they never scam you..
the speed is depend on several factors too and it is on the best effort

I think scam is a strong word to use.
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=54632325
I think my previous post in previous versions is not exported to this new thread.

An excerpt: Though it says 42000 downlink, that doesn't mean you should be expecting 42Mbps connection speed. That's not happening, yet. At this moment, the maximum speed Maxis DC-HSPA+ users can get is around 22-23Mbps.

Something like, your computer connect to Unifi through ethernet port then connect to Maxis through USB

Then the software will load balance aka join both of the connection into a high speed connection

doesn't work like that because we're still sharing the same bandwidth from a single cell tower. Maxis will load balance it. I've tested that. Dispatch is best with different service providers. whistling.gif

Standard math

10 apples and 5 kids there and you only one of them.
10 / 5 = 2
1 kid get 2 apples

10 apples and 9 kids there, 1 is your and another 4 of them are cloned copies of you.
10 / 9 *5 = 5.56

But if 2 multisim I think there will be no difference sad.gif
You tried 5 multisim using together? hmm.gif

not necessarily. Speed wise, it will be almost the same as you're using one modem. Reliability wise, it is much better as if one of your connection failed, Dispatch will switch to the other connection seamlessly. rclxms.gif

i dunno much about how e372 perform, but so far im not really satisfy with my e398, without proper placing at perfect spot, my e398 speedtest can still go below 1Mbps(with or without router). with the best spot i got, e398+panel, about 5Mbps sad.gif

furthermore, my e398+MR3420 V2(with/without panel), connect slow, sometimes need to reboot a few times then only able to connect. im not sure whether the weak signal cause this

I'm not sure about a cable that long cuz the above speed test is using a 3G stick and Wi-Fi signal only.. didn't use LAN cable.. I believe if I'm connected to Unifi through LAN cable, the speed would be more consistent.

I don't have a very expensive setup lol.. I'm using E398 and in my area (Puchong), my average IDM speed would range around 20-22Mbps.. As for my Unifi, I'm only connected via Wi-Fi (BTU straight to router) but the speed averages from 23-24Mbps.

One thing I do know is, using Dispatch.. you can use multiple 3G sticks to get better speeds.. doesn't have to be from different providers. Or, you can use Wi-Fi + 3G Stick + Phone tethering etc. Since my iPad/iPhone is Maxis as well.. I can tether it, add the E398 and Unifi.. the speeds can go higher.. maybe around 58Mbps or more.. but too many wires haha so I just use 3G modem and Wi-Fi only.

It depends on how you see it la.. for me, I was previously a subscriber, so the package only costs RM140 for lifetime bundle.. it will help if you have other networks to bridge.. I prefer the Dispatch because I travel a lot, so it's software based application, and I don't have to bring along the hardware, just my laptop.. 3G stick, plus a phone.. I can combine all these together with ease without a load balancer smile.gif

You need serious help.

List out your situation

1) location
2) modem used
3) did you set the parameters correctly.

I see a very serious problem for you now

I can confirm one thing that your signal is very bad
Second thing in this kind of location you shouldn't use that kind of modem

Solution is to use an antenna
A complete solution is buy an antenna + a good modem for signal reception + a router to share the connection.

If you having low budget, go for the antenna route first smile.gif

Unless your OS having viruses, else it is unrelated to your computer sad.gif

If connection drop to GPRS then 99% is caused by bad signal

What is your signal in RSSI

Kindly check at Setting > Status > Diagnostics

What happened to my place ._.
The speed is too random that I can't predict when only has good line.

Even during day time dl reaching 600-700 KB/s now only 2xxKB/s so weird. Using E372 now.

Basically there is improvement over my previous E367 by almost 2 times in good speed condition.

But then to hit 1MB/s barrier is another way to go sad.gif

bring it back to Maxis and exchange for a Maxis Branded E372, then buy a Panel Antenna from TS, then your speed will be stable. icon_idea.gif

If you have cash to splash, buy a Vigorfly200 for rm300, they you can fly

u need

- MDMA ( to tweak on band config )
- tweak UMTS2100 on MDMA
- take note of all the CELL ID in MDMA ( so u will know which CELL ID is best for you in speed + consistency )
- if your E372 is huawei set or 3 set, make sure u update to latest firmware + dashboard
( newer modem driver will help a bit in your connection too )
- use reflecting signal technology,( if u dont have antenna or dont have budget to buy antenna )

if u need it for most of the time on "mobile" easy to move around,

guess not much choice left

either huawei E355 / ZTE MF70 + power bank

or

any usb modem like Huawei E372/Huawei E367 + Hame A1/A100

or

any usb modem + TP Link MR3040 ( at home, u can take out the battery and use with power cable directly )

just remember to place your combination MOdem + router set near window or best at outdoor, due to signal is better and less interfere

Oh ya one thing I notice is my connection sometimes keep changing when Idle.
for example from DC-HSPA drop to WCDMA, and the LED color also changing from cyan to blue.
Is that the problem that I always connected to diff cell ?

Good thing abt E372 is that you can use MDMA ( V11~latest) to chk your area's signal (RSSI) and also your Cell ID.

With this info on hand, you can knoe exactly where to place the modem to get better signal , by using an extension usb (USB3.0 better) cable. A TP Link MR3420 would be much better as the Router will sufficiently power the Cable and Modem with 1A of electrical power ( if via usb port of the pc/lappie ~ 0.5A only)

Your current MiFi is power by battery, the lower the battery the signal will degrade , hence the speed sucks.

In areas where signal is not that good, esp East Malaysia, MiFi is not suitable because the signal is not as strong like some Metro areas of West Malaysia , namely Muntri st Area ( Penang ) PJ area ( Selangor) Dengkil/Nilai ( Near Putrajaya) and ofcourse Putrajaya itself. What more a MiFi's battery will slowly degrade as usage gets longer hence the signal also degrade and speed plunge.

E372 have antenna port to accept External Antenna to boost up the signal, you can use a Panel Antenna to get better signal/speed. Its easier to use compared to a Yagi where you have to point directly to the Tower location. I know a case where the user use an Antenna Signal booster to s"suck" signal 20KM from the tower, He spent a few thousands to acquired the relevant equipment because if not he would have to drive 25KM from his home to have internet access and you knoe those roads in East Malaysia kampong is not that good too........

I read about Maxis upgraded East Malaysia's 3G to DC HSPA+ 42mbps something, anyone can confirm the speed you get (if you have high end enough modem)? In city with my currently limited 7.2mbps modem hit the limit already. If able to get greater speed with significant advantage, I might consider buy a new modem...

Thanks.

QUOTE(digilife @ Dec 20 2012, 09:48 AM)

I know a case where the user use an Antenna Signal booster to s"suck" signal 20KM from the tower, He spent a few thousands to acquired the relevant equipment because if not he would have to drive 25KM from his home to have internet access  and you knoe those roads in East Malaysia kampong is not that good too........

o.. like dat... thanks ya.. i learn a lot.. since mxs give me dat modem.. i gt bad feeling.. modem use battery... doh.gif but cant take dat 42mbps.. i oso 4gt to ask., wther can have that modem or x, instead using E5331

I got better signal and speed broken 1MB barrier laugh.gif

If I get panel to gain better signal, means will go faster la ? hmm.gif

Yeah for me. It is indeed faster.
From a dying 200kBps speed shot up to 800kBps consistently.
This panel is really something.
Got one to put in my hometown too. PD's speed is really miserable, ranging below 2Mbps most of the time. With panel, shot up to 4-5Mbps.
Amazing stuff. laugh.gif

Some people get a very significant boost, some lost patience in aiming

I just posted here about my intention to sell off my E372 and E398, many people PM-ed me. Looks like a lot of silent readers here. laugh.gif

Anyway, let's see how it goes. I really don't mind selling but not sure which one to sell. laugh.gif

Panel also needs to be sold. Too many and messy. sweat.gif

Good thing is I can replenish back my money, since the Internet sucks so no point buying fantastic devices. laugh.gif laugh.gif

the vodafone B2000 only support up to 50Mbps in DL though,

it is hardware limitation or firmware limitation ? wondering they are both on similar chipset hmm.gif

Perhaps bro blacktubi can get more info haha.. They do look similar to me, but not sure if there are any changes due to telco contracts.. hopefully not biggrin.gif

Edit: After reading more.. it seems they are identical.. just rebranding. It is also rebranded to Telekom Speedbox LTE. Both the Vodafone B2000 and Telekom Speedbox LTE is Huawei B593

Yup, the limitations are set by the telco provider.. so if the B2000 is flashed with Huawei's stock firmware, it should perform like the original one biggrin.gif (fingers crossed)

That's the whole reason why I have the intention to sell off my E398 and one extra panel. It doesn't serve much purpose to me. laugh.gif

Currently my handicap e372 out perform all the rest of my modem. So unless the e398 performs superb or else better skip the b593 dream. hmm.gif

They should be on the same chipset cuz I saw some unlocked B2000s supporting LTE 100Mbps downloads.. hmm..
*
Actually LTE chipset on LTE device are the same by Qualcomm right now nod.gif

No mather B593 or E398 they are running on the same chip.

But B593 larger PCB and better heat allow higher stability compared to conventional 3G modem. And bigger antenna allow better signal.

Eg : Yes Go dongle VS Yes Zoom. The improvement is obvious

If you guys aim for B593, wait for 2013 Maxis will launch it, avoid wasting the money now icon_idea.gif

Just keep those that works best for you tongue.gif

E398 is definitely more stable than MF680 unless you cool your MF680 too.

Nah, for the whole night my E398 only got 5Mbps max. I got so fed up with it and changed to MF680 and immediately my speed straight shot up to 11Mbps. Coincidence? I don't know.
Yes stable in obtaining slow speed lo. laugh.gif

No cooling was done and actually oh E398 is equivalent hot as well.

It works differently depends on location I can say hmm.gif
Some got MF680 working some may not whistling.gif

I tried more than 5 MF680 and killed 2 by firmware, none of them ever works at my location even with my Umobile.
That's why I always prefer E372 when E398 not here.

I will do a complete review once I get my Camera back nod.gif

MF680 is a whole hot brick.
E372 cold outside hot inside doh.gif

E398 come with plenty of thermal tape inside to encourage heat dissipation.
Until now it is the only LTE got this feature.
Every LTE chip is hot (320U / MF820) doh.gif
