Let's put it in an arrogant and blunt way, money is not really an issue (for me or others) but then Maxis' speed in my area is so donkey. sleep.gif

pretty sure around PJ area, almost alot place getting congested. daylight speed only get 2~3MB/s.

still bear with them.  cry.gif

If 3MBps I don't mind. That's 24Mbps.laugh.gif
Don't worry I know what you meant. tongue.gif

QUOTE(garytey @ Dec 21 2012, 06:12 PM)
fully agreed, last night my setup of e398+mr3420 v2+antenna can run below 1Mbps placing at bad spots(open air, tried a few times). best spot only 2~ 3Mbps cry.gif
but midnight got 7 to 8 lo .. haih..
*
That's the whole reason why I have the intention to sell off my E398 and one extra panel. It doesn't serve much purpose to me. laugh.gif

Nah, for the whole night my E398 only got 5Mbps max. I got so fed up with it and changed to MF680 and immediately my speed straight shot up to 11Mbps. Coincidence? I don't know.
Yes stable in obtaining slow speed lo. laugh.gif

No cooling was done and actually oh E398 is equivalent hot as well.

Back to square, I don't mind spending few hundreds for my modem or router provided the ISP deserves for such devices.

If not, I better use the money to makan. whistling.gif I get high speed in office all the time, more than 30Mbps, going back to my PJ house is just for downloads and surfing.

Even that Maxis fails to fulfill my requests. sleep.gif

Actually even if you use a E398 Plus Dual Antenna , PD during weekend sucks cause the population there increased by 5 folds compared to normal, even the main road along the Beaches got jammed up for no apparent reasons, so is the Bandwidth there icon_idea.gif

Try it during a normal day like a non Public Holiday,  Thu ( which i always do ) the speed speeds ........along the Beaches , in the Old PD Town sitting at the ABC Stall  brows.gif  or at just anywhere in PD. Because the bandwidth at that time is UNDER UTILISE............

biggrin.gif

Nah, it sucks all the time.
This was captured with ZTE MF680+single panel+HW-550-3G since it doesn't support E398.
Will be going to my sister's house tonight and see how it goes there.

I'm still in PD and will bring it along. However, won't be going to town area. I'll be only at S2 area.

with that kind of upload speed, loading websites it is easy as a breeze  drool.gif

But download speed is no good. laugh.gif
Nevertheless, my sister's house is out of coverage for UniFi but her Streamyx 4Mbps is pretty good actually. Speedtest shows around 4.1Mbps and 2 iPads and 2 Galaxy Note II are connected via WiFi and do streaming. thumbup.gif

If you ever used MF680 and touched internal of E372 or touched the base of 320U then you won't feel E398 hot laugh.gif
*
To me all are hot.
I have all except Sierra.
So my opinion is valid. rolleyes.gif
Don't need to keep defending it because it is really hot.
I'm not against E398 but Huawei is popular for heat.

If its not hot, its fried ~ 'dead fish'

Only smart pipu like Hot Stuff ~ now E173 and E1762 is cold stuff cause no one wans it.

Hot means the chips inside are working for the money spent.

My other modems like e1762,e220,mf622,mf190,mf691,e367,e355,umg1831 are all cold cause i dun use them anymore ~ btw,  E5331 is not bad actually  brows.gif can bring it everywhere to test QOS42000 , better than E355

You know, that's very obvious. sweat.gif doh.gif

Actually E398 is good if you don't have E372 or MF680 before this. With Maxis' current infrastructure, you really expect a big jump? That's not going to happen. E398 is not a God and will turn your slow speed to high speed. smile.gif

Anyway, it probably can shine only when the real day comes.

Somebody might not like my honest post and keep defending it is a good modem. smile.gif

Anyway, I retract my comments as I don't wish to create more hatred on this thread.
After all, who am I to comment here? whistling.gif
