are you using smooth rom? i used to have this issues when using the smooth rom with the 'bricked kernal' , then i read somewhere in xda, the cause of this problem due to the kernal problem, so, one forumer suggested me to use the "Clemsyn Elite Battery Saver kernel" instead, which is also available in the rom , which you can choose during flashing it. then after change to the " Clemsyn Elite Battery Saver kernel" tha problem fixed, i never encounter the "sod aka. sleep of death" again .. woo hoooo..... hope thats help.
