yes, the leather case is quite nice. I love the smartcover. It cut down the usage of power button by a lot.

You can do a quick test it with a USB mouse. The mouse cursor should appear once USB mouse is plug in.

where to buy blurex? it looks great too but much thicker than Nillkin. May want to get one along if you are getting it. tongue.gif Thicker is better for travelling. The slim Nillkin for using at home. biggrin.gif

For Nillkin product, do find tskhor, highly recommended good seller with good after sales service. biggrin.gif

Remember to install Nexus Media Importer or Stickmount (requires root) if you wanna read files from pendrive/hdd

Would have loved to grab it from you, but I'm on the 3g version. Think that case covers up some of the mics and sim card slot rclxub.gif

Hmm if Shirogawa think it's the ultra-slim version, which looks roughly as thick as the Nillkin? Not the normal one

Mini is lighter n slimmer definitely more portable
Mini display outshine n7 but text look better on N7
I still maintain my opinion N7 has the worst display in all the androids I have used
I dump my mini solely because of its weaker wifi n poorer thether with my Note2 making a poorer n less enjoyable experience on internet stuffs

Totally agreed with you benny888. At first glance, the display is indeed poorer than my gt7.7..

Btw, just got my 7c from a computer shop in JB. they are having xmas promotion sale so i got it at a good price. smile.gif going to sell my gt7.7.. not becos it's not better than n7 (in fact the display and other specs are much better than n7), but because it's a google device and can able to enjoy the latest updates of android from this tablet..

as i opened it up, noticed a few things:

1. it doesn't come with headphone?
2. poorer display than my samsung devices (even my S2), potong stim a bit of its wow factor.
3. the speed is so fast, i've never seen updating app can be so fast and smooth.. the scrolling is so smooth as well..
4. it was running 4.2 before it prompted to upgrade 4.2.1 which i did in just a few mins.

my initial verdict, so far so good! smile.gif

Charging it now.. going to root it with nexus toolkit and tonight planning to hunt for cover, OTB cable and SP in JB. anybody knows any place i can get these in JB? Danga city mall?? i heard 7c and 7's cover are different due to the diff position of the mics and the extra sim card slot.

benny888, any recom custom rom for nexus?

hmm... planning to get a simcard with data plan only. any recomm?

a happy nexus 7c camper here..

Yup.

I believe main differences is the mic
1. used to be ontop case, no above power button
2. left side of tablet on moved lower to accomodate simslot

And:
3. obviously, the sim slot thingie

So, these 3 things seem to be on the left and right of tablet. Generally cases that cover up the sides with small cutouts based on old Nexus 7 will end up covering your mic/simslots. Which, can be annoying if u wanna use google voice or I suppose song recognition apps.

On the other hand, think some cases like the blurex ultra slim (mentioned somewhere here recently) doesn't cover up the sides much, so those should be fine smile.gif

Hmm depends on your area wor. JB ka. If umobile works, that seems cheap. If not..maxis? biggrin.gif

Hmm... Thinking of Ipad Mini VS Nexus 7C.. i love the exterior hardware of Ipad Mini..screen...body...design.. but feel that IOS is limited. any advice here? I bring up hardware/build quality because i knew nex 7 has quality issues. Are these issues still existant in 7C ?

You can send SMS, so long as your SIM or plan supports it. But you would have to install a 3rd party SMS app. I installed GoSMS on my 7C (i.e. 3G version) and it can send SMSes just fine. No need to root or anything. Oh, I am a Maxis broadband (data only) plan and using the broadband SIM.

As for GSM calls, sorry, no can do. Don't think you are able to do it even if you rooted it.
