I got a Nexus 7 32GB from Newegg. Just noticed that there's screen lift. I remember there's a 1 month 1-to-1 exchange from Newegg. Should I just return it?

Yes I think you should, since you still can return it.
Do they charge anything for this?
Or you just need to bear the postage cost to their office?

Mine too, got it from Newegg as well and there is a minor screen lift on the left side of N7, I already emailed them and asked if I am eligible for a replacement, now waiting for their reply.

This may be a silly question but anyone notice the top and bottom of the N7 is slightly rounded and not as flat like the sides?

Not many of you guys facing screen flickering problem? As I know its pretty common..good way to test is to set minimum brightness, get your wifi signal to be really bad, launch google maps, and just pan around a white background..mine is noticeable...

Try restart but fail, think need to use toolkit but the file is big and with my slow internet I think i'll skip and just bring it to the shop, since I just bought it this morning. Already call them they said can do it for me.

Anyway thanks uncle for the reply, next time will download the toolkit and stock image if happens again.

My unit also have screen lift issue on the left side. Can I change it one to one since I just bought it today. It's a local set by asus. Anyone try it before.

Using Google Nexus 7 Toolkit.

1. Downloaded cm-10.1-20121214-UNOFFICIAL-grouper
2. extracted and put everything in the "put_img_files_to_flash_here
3. fired up toolkit and selected option 11. flash img to device. under one of the option I selected write to "system" , among the option was boot, bootloader, system and some others I forgot
I can get into Fastboot mode atm. But I am scared as ...
Maybe I am a bit off. since the Google with a padlock screen stayed for more then 5minutes. But the flashing took just like 5 seconds.
Is that normal?
edit: I think I am on the way to flashing back to stock JB.

*my heart stop for 5minutes just now.

You're really new to android.

When they say img_files, it really means IMG file!!! The file format is in XXXX.img

And you put a .zip file to be flashed doh.gif

Yep! I noticed that when I took it out of the box the first time too. It makes the whole device looks a bit roundish. It's not just the top part though, the bottom part is too smile.gif

Ya loh... i am such a nub sauce.... I look at the flash. and it flash faster then those old bios flashing. Thats when I start to panic...

Now I am back to stock JB. Rooted. but it will be a while before I try custom ROMs.

I did unzip the downloaded pack. Got one boot.img file... so I just use that.... sigh.

Any hand holding guide for flashing custom rom for newbies?

doh.gif What you should do is...

Download the zip file, don't touch it, put into Nexus 7. Boot into recovery, CWM or TWRP to flash/install them. That's all...

Oh... Don't forget the gapps!

That's all. So hard??? sweat.gif

Who ask you hand itchy go unzip it.

That is boot image only
Just boot to recovery mode n select install the rom zip file. Before that select wipe cache n dalvik cache. Wiping data/factory reset is optional but recommended if you are flashing between different developers
You must have recovery installed first - install this from toolkit. You have 2 choices Cwm or twrp. Both are equally good. I chose twrp as it can backup rom to external usb devices n backup/restore rom is faster than Cwm

Thanks IwanAGP, gin&tonic and benny888

I got a bit ahead of myself. Fortunately, did not really completely break the n7.
