It's rather cheap for a M40x seeing the market price now.

My M40X earpad is starting to wear off. Any recommendation for replacement pad? I PM the distributor for Audio Technica Malaysia, they quoted me Rm139 for the replacement pad which is a bit expensive for me.
StarsPicker do have replacement earpads for the M40x but it's velour, so the sound will most likely change slightly Class A Velour (RM99): Lelong Link Class B Velour (RM69): Lelong Link
But I would really recommend going for Brainwavz's earpads if the pricing (RM104 ish) is fine with you. Their shipping is free and it takes around 2 weeks for it to arrive. Link: Official site
I was reading about Velor earpad that it reduce the sound quality for the headphone. How good is Brainwayz's earpads compared to the Original?
Not to say it reduces the sound quality... It would be more appropriate to say it alters the sound. Brainwavz's earpads are larger and thicker than Audio Technica's default one so it's more comfortable but you might or might not notice that your sound will become slightly darker.
Hi guys, I'm currently have a msr7 but the pads considered gg already. Any way to get new ori pads? Or any other alternate pads? I heard brainwavez changes its sound signature too much
they only sell class A pads. Im not sure what that means, but i do know those are oem pads. does it change the sound signature?
They have Class A and Class B Pads, they're most likely the quality grade.
I doubt it will, the only reason the Brainwavz Earpads change the sound of the MSR7 is because of the slightly larger inner circumference diameter compared to the stock ones. You can go try out the pads beforehand, the folks at StarsPicker are really friendly and nice. They have a demo unit for the MSR7 too if you don't feel like bringing yours there. Also, the material type will also change the sound like if you were to go for Velour ones.
ok turned out to be the plug issue now im using it and it sounds so good, the bass is punchy but not overwhelming, mids are prominent, the treble is crystal clear yet doesnt make you go fatigue after a few hours of use, one minor problem though, after a 2-3 hour session the casing and the tube of the aune t1se can get very hot, is it normal?
It's normal for the tubes to get really hot. Nothing to worry about.
is it really worth the 70 dollar upgrade, its a quite a jump for me
i mostly using it for gaming and music listening, sometime ps4, and traveling
Depends what sound signature you're looking for. They both sound quite different from each other. It's better you try them out first. Personally I prefer the M40x.
