Anyone know if this 3 years++ CoolerMaster 380W PSU will be able to the system?

http://imgur.com/a/oPMZD

Core 2 Duo E8400
Leadtek GTS 450
Asus P5Q SE Plus

Checked with online PSU calculator and the result doesn't really look good, plus it's old age.
Thanks in advance!

Personally I'd get a new unit... something like a FSP Hexa 500W... The old unit might not be able to deliver its rated wattage due to capacitor aging. tongue.gif

Should be fine. tongue.gif
Though if you are shopping for a new unit, I'd get the Seasonic S12G/G series/Rosewill Capstone series. icon_idea.gif

how will the psu perform? i read tpu review and it says 8.6, but the cooler master gx650 which is a bad psu, they oso giv 8.0 ratings... if it is allowable to still perform well under stress load condition, i wont get another psu.

The point is price... icon_idea.gif
That unit is fine, though the choice of capacitors and electrical components are not exactly the best. tongue.gif
Note that the GX650 TPU reviewed is the Bronze version, which uses different OEM (Enhance instead of Seventeam), which does not suffer from poor ripple suppression.

No. Did you go through the reviews? tongue.gif
Capacitors usually do not affect ripple suppression. However, high quality capacitors will ensure the longevity of the unit. It's not Japan caps, but it is still a solid unit, unfortunately the price range isn't good. sweat.gif

It's a decent unit. tongue.gif Though I'm actually concerned about something:

QUOTE
Two G30N60E fets and a BYC15-600 boost diode are used in the APFC, and a pair of Chemi-Cons (400 V, 270 μF each or 540 μF each, 85°C, SMQ series) act as bulk caps. As you can see from the last of the above photos, we had to remove the APFC inductor to provide you with a better view.

Japan main caps on the PSU.

QUOTE
The secondary side uses a mix of polymer and electrolytic caps for ripple filtering. All polymer and most of the electrolytics, except two Elite ones, are provided by Teapo.

Subgrade caps... sweat.gif Especially Elite caps. They are known to fail prematurely. sweat.gif

QUOTE
The small modular PCB houses three polymer caps, two from CapXon and one from Elite.

CapXon caps on the modular board. CapXon (aka CrapXon) is known for poor quality capacitors, though since it's on the modular board (i.e. there is no or very little electrical load), it's fine actually.

I've bought one....450W Silverstone SFX....RM 359....sweat.gif...if my HTPC is not so small, i won't buy it...but currently, it is the only modular SFX PSU available. Good thing is it has bracket, so can fit into ATX slot...my HTPC actually has a full size ATX slot.

Hehe. You should get the PP05 Kit as well bro. Might save you on the cable mess. I have the same unit. But now after allegedly discovered that a new 550Watts SFX will be available , i think i'm gonna sell this off when it comes out. Just hope that it will be good. Fingers cross. blush.gif blush.gif

err...why do you need 550w?? 450W already too much...my rig use only 40-50W normal usage. PSU most efficient when above 20%...i only reach 10%...if prefer to have a 300W unit!

I opened up my Gigabyte 500W Powerock (GE-N500A-C2, not the same as the bunch of other powerocks with the AX/EX/etc which are from different oems) after the warranty period expired to have a look inside. I can confirm that it was a CWT built unit. The primary capacitor was Jap and the secondaries were Teapos. Not bad for RM140. The identical Corsair CX600 probably nearly double the price before it was discontinued.
