I'm painting an old computer to fit into my living room. The amp and TV have a brushed metal finish, and I want to try recreating that look on my PC casing.
Is it feasible? |

QUOTE(wKkaY @ Mar 10 2006, 08:39 PM) I'm painting an old computer to fit into my living room. The amp and TV have a brushed metal finish, and I want to try recreating that look on my PC casing. Very easy oni. 1st remove the paint until u haf a bare metal panel. Then get a sanding block n sand in straight lines until u get the brushed metal look. Then spray a few layers of clear coat on it to prevent corrosion. Is it feasible? |

QUOTE(AllnGap @ Mar 10 2006, 09:39 PM) Can 1. The oni diff is that the factory finish is done using machine to get those perfect straight lines. Wat we can do to replicate that is to use a L pipe, put it on top of the panel n sand in perfect straight lines. Oni thing we cant replicate is of course the anodised finish of the brushed alu panels. |

QUOTE(ianho @ Mar 11 2006, 12:22 AM) U still need to spray paint. Just that it's clear coat paint. Or else the brushed metal look is gonna be rusted metal look soonz. Oh, I realize that this casing is made of plastic. No can do.I just had a hand at the silver spraypaint. What do you reckon is nicer, a smooth silver finish or a textured finish? ![]() That's how it looks like so far. How do I keep the prevent the paint from coming out? It's been drying for a few hours, yet some paint stuck to my hands when I picked it up. This pic shows what it looks like before. Beige. Apologies for the mess, and argh.. I wish the projector's mine. This post has been edited by wKkaY: Mar 10 2006, 11:18 PM |

QUOTE(Acey @ Mar 10 2006, 10:02 PM) *take toothbrush n brush steel plat with Colgate* Anodizing is a special treatment that they do for alu to gif it that nice color, u know hte nice looking alu blue, red, green? It also comes in clear color meaning looks just like bare alu. It's like paint that protects metal.what does that what andadodise anodise adonis whatever term means? QUOTE(wKkaY @ Mar 10 2006, 10:57 PM) Oh, I realize that this casing is made of plastic. No can do. The spray paint shud be touch dry within 10 minutes actually. If it still comes off after few hours means u oversprayed oredi. The pic of ure beige casing cant c nothing. I just had a hand at the silver spraypaint. QUOTE(Acey @ Mar 11 2006, 07:11 AM) Can get a similar look to anodized alu. After sanding the metal to brushed look, spray paint the clear blue or clear red paint. Then it looks like anodized brushed alu but then it's glossy instead of matt. |
