QUOTE(xyz_cityhunter @ Jan 3 2013, 08:30 PM) Haha yup, I agree with you. I think it's quite hard to reach below 17secs for restart time for laptops, unless RAID dual-SSD (eg: the so-called SuperRAID from MSI GT70 Well for PC, I believe there's should be some (that below 17secs), because for example OCZ Z-R4 PCIe SSD can reach 2.8GB/s transfer speed easily. I wish I had one. ![]() Ok, back to main topic. Is there anyone that install 16GB 1600MHz RAM inside your Y480 successfully? Which means, 8GB + 8GB. I've read a lot of article about it but can't reach the conclusion whether or not 16GB is supported. Don't know about other Y series, though. I've seen a thread from LYN garage that the Y480 seller can offer for upgrading to 16GB. QUOTE(xyz_cityhunter @ Jan 4 2013, 11:39 PM) Just realized that my power connector port a bit loose, anyone else also facing this situation? I think i saw a review of Y580 on Youtube also got mention about this connector port loose issue... Count me in. My Y480 also have this issue, but I don't think its a big deal though. Although a bit loose, still acceptable because I don't think that the connector can disconnect by itself from the socket.QUOTE(SELRYC @ Jan 5 2013, 02:58 AM) Hi Y580 user here.....still 1 months old (bought from lowyat plaza at rm2599 which is cheapest I think......) Y580? That indeed cheap. QUOTE(thesoothsayer @ Jan 5 2013, 05:36 AM) How's the feel of the this series of laptops? Solid build and suitable if need to move around a bit for teaching and meetings? Well, for me there's nothing wrong using this series of laptop for work, as that's what the actual purpose of mine. These Y series are great: their high-end specs, design, quality are unmatched compare to the price (so cheap!). If ones looking for All-in-One portable PC that able to do everything with lowest price, this are the best for sure. But for your case (assume that your task are mostly for teachings and meetings), I really recommend Ultrabook, because of great battery life and easy to move around (thanks for their weight and slimness). Lot's of my clients (most from higher-ups, government Putrajaya area) are using Ultrabook because of these reasons. But be alert: you cannot do other great things like gaming because of lack of powerful graphics inside most Ultrabook. Also, the price is a bit expensive compare to other type of laptops. Unless you're also love gaming or other heavy task (video editing, software development etc) and not afford enough to buy multiple PC's / laptop for that, or didn't care of weight / battery, I recommend ultrabook for you.
