1. i plugged in the adapter to laptop. 2 it was ok for 2-5 minutes. 3. then the power button and battery indicator on the laptop keep blinking. 4. it was discharged. 5. i had to unplug and plug again to charge, but then it happened again. What could be the culprit? Thanks. |

QUOTE(mrquidz @ Feb 9 2013, 05:28 PM) i need help here. my lenovo y480 has a problem with charging. Here's the details : Hi guys. Thanks for replying. i think i've found out the problem.1. i plugged in the adapter to laptop. 2 it was ok for 2-5 minutes. 3. then the power button and battery indicator on the laptop keep blinking. 4. it was discharged. 5. i had to unplug and plug again to charge, but then it happened again. What could be the culprit? Thanks. Apparently, the power adapter is the problem here. I noted that my power adapter output is 19V - 3.42A which is only HALF of the output supported by lenovo y480 ( 19V - 6.15A ) . This is why whenever i'm using power hunger apps such as photoshop or gaming; the laptop stop charging! I plugged in my father's power adapter with output of 20V - 4.6 A and it works well, but the charging is still slow. Well, can't complain much since i bought it second hand. Must be the seller also didn't notice the problem. Have to take alook at low yatt for a new power adapter then! |

Ok. I just installed new 4gb eam abd done a quick windows experience index. However, the bottleneck was the graphic for aero which was only scored 5.9 . This is weird as I think the test use the intel graphic instead of nty gt 650m.
1. How do I make sure it choose the graphic card? 2. When I use hdmi cable to y tv, the same thing happen where it won't go full hd by not using graphic card as well.. Note that Ive upgraded to the latest driver.. using win 7 64bit. Thanks |

QUOTE(Chartry @ Feb 13 2013, 03:23 PM) for question 1, go to windows / lenovo power management and select high performance / lenovo dynamic graphics for max performance. Hey thanks for your tips! I've got the right numbers now. alternatively you can use the nvidia control panel to choose which program you would like to run with the graphic card. if you're lazy you can right click the program and select run using nvidia graphic for questions 2, you can adjust the resolution by right click on the desktop and select screen resolution. Does your TV supports full hd? |

What's the power of the y480 power adapter?
19V - 6.15A but how many watt? Because i bought a local one, and putting hyperdynamic (after high performance one) in power management for hardcore gaming make the load too high and it stopped charging. Lol |

QUOTE(mrl @ Feb 15 2013, 08:34 AM) Stock is 1.35V? I didn't know this... ok thanks. i'm not sure it's the stock either, but using cpu-z to check the manufacturer, the box is blank and part number is SHARETRONIC. no idea what it means.anyway, it is said that DDR3L (1.35V) is backward compatible with DDR3 (1.5V)... So, if it's mixed DDR3L will run with 1.5V. I can't say for sure for this, maybe you want to refer to someone else as well... I might be wrong. anyway, the voltage stated is 1.28, not 1.35v ... |

Some people sometime miss this. |

Anyway, upgrading to SSD is really worth it. I just did. Lol. Can't recommend you the brand tho, as i also didn't familiar with this.. But people keep on saying to choose marvell than sandforce controller.. so i choose Crucial Brand. Mine is mSata crucial m4 128gb SSD. Price is rm340. It is smaller ssd i think? >.< |

QUOTE(aeronchan @ Feb 19 2013, 01:38 AM) download this : http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.63-setup-en.exethen under SPD tab, check the max bandwith (it should write 800mhz) QUOTE(loon1983 @ Feb 19 2013, 01:39 AM) Rm340 seems good deal... just buy the ssd n replace with the harddisk right? hi.. mine is mSata. there's a special slot beneath my laptop (i'm sure yours as well) for it. Doesn't have to replace the HDD. But if you buy other SSD which isn't mSata SSD, then you have to replace it.. You can check the item from the seller under my signature. Many SSD to choose from. You can even ask him for suggestion. He's a nice seller with very fast shipping. then use recovery DVD to recover? |

Yes. the HDD stay at the same place. Only add mSata inside.
You can choose to install it with fresh windows or copy the current OS from HDD. Here's a blog showed the step to do it if you want to copy the current OS. (It is for y480 but i think the method is the same with any SSD). rkiran.com/blog/2012/08/22/proud-owner-of-lenovo-ideapad-y480/ Can't say which is better since i don't own both. Maybe someone else can answer that. But for me it's fast enough already. Opening micrsft word takes only 1 second. XD |

THere's no atheros wireless Lan driver for it? i checked for it at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/h...&DocID=HT073632 but only for win7. which 1 should i select then? This post has been edited by mrquidz: Feb 19 2013, 03:20 PM |

QUOTE(mrl @ Feb 19 2013, 01:57 AM) regarding this, I would say no one will recommend you to upgrade... even I as win8 user will have a hard time to recommend you the upgrade... not because it's bad... but it takes some time to get used to the new interface... some people can't even get used to it and stop using it... the best recommendation is, find some way to use it without activating it (i think release preview is still valid...) and try it yourself... if you don't like it, you can revert back without wasting hundreds... mind you that Win8 Pro upgrade version is super expensive now... QUOTE(vNirvana @ Feb 19 2013, 03:33 PM) Yup, there is actually an extra slot for mSata.. This is what a dealer told me. But the price is quick expensive if not mistaken msata 128gb for rm340 including postage.. i think it's a good price.About the heat issue, it is quick usual if you playing high graphic game with high setting.. Just make sure you have a cooling fans with the a correct adapter then you don't have to worry about it anymore. |
