I would prefer
CPU:40-50C GPU:50-60C HDD:30-45C for idle/browsing. But for Optimus-enabled notebook. Better turn off nVidia temperature monitoring, because you would just keep the nVidia turning on just for the sake reporting the temp, which waste energy and heat.. |

Performance wise, the Y500 would last longer.

Maybe you didn't install the USB 3.0 driver. The cooler works since it just need power, not data. |
