Another Y500 owner smile.gif

Seems like mine didn't come with the 120W adapter as well since it got a box + bag and there's no additional box like what PRC owners claim. Still slowly getting used to Win8 or might just install Win7 when I got my mSATA later smile.gif

Found out in LY there aren't many shops carry mSATA + limited choices so I'm planning to get it in Garage Sales. smile.gif

i asked the shop yesterday, they say just bring the shop receipt to the shop or lenovo service center will do
*
Never trust what the sales person says until you verify with Lenovo Service Center. If it's a grey import unit, example from US, they need a receipt from Lenovo Online store or major IT store like Best Buy, Newegg, Office Depot etc. They won't accept the receipt produced at local shops. Better safe than sorry later.

Oh, like this ah  hmm.gif ,
because they got CC email to me the warranty application form that they email to lenovo and receipt (i get local set one)
http://support.lenovo.com/en_SG/product-se...arrantyReg.page

edit: i think eternalpulse asked about grey import unit warranty, which i misunderstand
*
Yes if your unit is a local set so there won't be any problem. Laptop's serial number can be traced on where the unit originated from, so is the model number. Don't assume everything is a okay until Lenovo give you the good news during registration. nod.gif

Yes if you on for hours/days. Unless you want to charge the battery or turn on for few hours it won't have huge difference.

Hmmm i see... actually i prefer to get Y580.. but since malaysia no more stock, i'm currently looking for it in indonesia (since i'm studying here now).. so was thinking if i managed to find one here, is it safe to buy here n bring back malaysia to service next time, like that lo.. Now not sure whether safe to buy in indon or not like that.

If i bought it myself n have proof of travel (passport), is it still considered grey set? haha..
*
If you're looking for one in Indonesia, you can ask the sales person/shop whether the unit comes with International/Regional Warranty (ASEAN+China). It shouldn't be a problem to register under Indonesia then bring it back later.

I just did a clean install on my SSD. the record is under cold boot, but warm boot i doubt would be more than 5 secs difference.

Hey guys, sorry to bother... Just a question, I'm about to buy a y400 soon.. Can you guys enlighten me what should expect/get from a y400 for a 2699 price... coz shops (some but not all) nowadays do 'exchange' some internal hardware to those ciplak stuff... Just to double confirm  Thanks first.
*
Just make sure you got a sealed box if you don't want to get cheated. Make sure spec from the box is same description of what they mentioned.

Just to share with all Y580 users, i already max out everything to my Y580 and i very satisfy with the performance.

Msata SSD 128 crucial m4 6GB/s for windows 7
2 x 8GB Kingston 1600 RAM running 800MHZ
1 Tera WD blue for media
1 Tera toshiba for Workspace - ODD Bay (as i work as software developer)
Bit weird for your memory score coz mine is 7.9 using mix factory/Kingston 2X 4GB D3 RAM 1600... WMI can't be trusted.. Just a reference maybe icon_idea.gif

If full set den comes with both adaptors, but some sellers are selling the cheaper version (without second GC but with DVD drive). Since my budget a bit tight, i tot i'll buy the lite version first, den buy second GC when need performance boost. But that also means i dont get the 170W adaptor.. Hmmm... recommendations maybe?
*
If bought 2nd GC from some sellers, it should come with GC + 170w adapter as a package

how much? if i may asked.
and where?

are those two comes with 2 years warranty also?
*
You can view back recent pages that there's a seller in Melacca selling the package. Warranty should be 1 year coz it doesn't come with your notebook in the 1st place but you can ask the seller. Sorry but I don't know the price.

Good thing I haven't updated yet then, the installer still sitting on my harddisk.

Don't think there's an issue for Y580. It's my SLI ver. Y500 got issue, not sure about others.

if people do comments for the reduced wifi speed, I think it's either the McAfee trying to scan the data that comes in for malicious codes or the CPU resource is being used so much that it starts to cap everything. I know for certain that McAfee is resource hogger... I dont think wifi signal reception is affected.
*
If it's Internet Security, they'll monitor the network data which is why when you disable their firewall, especially during torrent, you'll get back your usual speed... it's up to you if you want to be safe or a bit slow during downloading and stuff. smile.gif

Also tested 120w adapter and 150w on 3dmark and 3dmark11
Guess what. Different only 300 point but fps in actual gaming is still the same. Now I doubt what is the real deal with the 150w  adapter.. seems pointless
*
Is to prevent you fried your own 120w coz it's always on full output + more heat on the adapter if use longer period. Same logic for desktop 600w/750w using GTX 680.
