Hey there,
Im planning to get Lenovo y500 or 580, After reading the previous post, found out that y580 have wifi problem. What about y500, im planning to get the SLI version. Is it a good buy? or any cons about the laptop, the specification and price looks tempting. Is certainly comparable in alienware laptops (Certain price range).

What about y500? the specs looks even better, but is a SLI type of model. Will it be overheated? Because is running on 2 graphic card. Since the price gap between both is not far apart.

QUOTE(tidus88 @ Jan 17 2013, 05:50 PM) So far la... Y500 no problem for me. Highest temperature i got is around 65C, Idle at 35C. Which is even better than Asus ROG Laptop. About quality, Y500 is more beautiful than Y580. The curve at the back of the cover of Y500 is absolutely awesome, and the BackLit (Red color) at the keyboard is just nice. The only problem is that, games which not supported by SLI might be the only weakness to Y500. And I think Nvidia will fix it. Price wise : Y580 Gaming : Y500 Appearancee : Y500 hmmmm, okay. im planning to get one soon. Lol What about battery wise? if without charging fullly charge , normal usage like surfing net and online how long can it last?

QUOTE(tennytyy @ Jan 21 2013, 11:01 AM) Why would you bother to buy it without second GPU? All local set comes with second GPU in package, unless you are getting the imported set. Don't ever get the imported set unless you want to go through hassles in future for warranty issue. hmmm. cause currently im still out of budget to get a 2nd gpu, since a single gpu cost up to RM 2700 ( 16 gb ssd + blueray) , was planning to trade in the blue ray and top up for the 2nd gpu. I heard US set , some are faulty unit?

QUOTE(mrl @ Jan 21 2013, 12:20 PM) my opinion, it's better to get Y580 if you can find one rather than getting Y500 US unit if you're tight on budget... it's not advisable to get US unit... you'll face problem if you ever need the warranty... and given the current circumstances, it seems to be you'll need the warranty... if you still want the Y500, just grab Malaysian unit... spend extra for extra peace of mind... Okay, thanks for the advise. Maybe after CNY or 1st quarter. Price will drop. or maybe pc fair i only go buy. Not really in the hurry to get yet. Currently im using dell XPS.

QUOTE(money_rule @ Jan 21 2013, 09:10 PM) Hi, which seller do you all recommend to buy lenovo y500 from in lowyat? i hang around there for hours but not knowing which shop can i trust~ i worried that they might con me by persuading me to buy the imported unit by claiming that its local unit d price i am expecting it to be is around rm3500 with 8gb of ram~ thxx a lot I think when they show you the unit, the box itself will prove is a local set or AP set. Usually you must see the description i guess. Y500 i saw someone selling RM 3500.
