Just realized that my power connector port a bit loose, anyone else also facing this situation? I think i saw a review of Y580 on Youtube also got mention about this connector port loose issue...
*
Count me in. My Y480 also have this issue, but I don't think its a big deal though. Although a bit loose, still acceptable because I don't think that the connector can disconnect by itself from the socket.

Well, for me there's nothing wrong using this series of laptop for work, as that's what the actual purpose of mine. smile.gif

These Y series are great: their high-end specs, design, quality are unmatched compare to the price (so cheap!). If ones looking for All-in-One portable PC that able to do everything with lowest price, this are the best for sure.

But for your case (assume that your task are mostly for teachings and meetings), I really recommend Ultrabook, because of great battery life and easy to move around (thanks for their weight and slimness). Lot's of my clients (most from higher-ups, government Putrajaya area) are using Ultrabook because of these reasons. But be alert: you cannot do other great things like gaming because of lack of powerful graphics inside most Ultrabook. Also, the price is a bit expensive compare to other type of laptops.

Unless you're also love gaming or other heavy task (video editing, software development etc) and not afford enough to buy multiple PC's / laptop for that, or didn't care of weight / battery, I recommend ultrabook for you.

3 fingers swipe and 4 fingers swipe. You can disable them in touchpad settings.
one touch recovery > reset to factory settings

OR

insert windows installation disc > reformat hdd > install windows

I'm dead worried about the temperature now... idling 52'C, playing 720p vid can reach 70'C... I think something is wrong with the CPU heat transfer  sweat.gif

No installation disc wor.

Preloaded with Win 7HB. Reset?

Thx!! rclxm9.gif BTW Y580 is so much better than my old Acer 5750G that I traded in for (Acer build quality was even worse) and I don't feel the power socket is not really problem to me. The recent Ideapad series has nice build quality too..... biggrin.gif

Expected from JBL speakers laugh.gif The sound is so dynamic and so clear even in full volume I won't need to use my PC speakers anymore~ Even the Altec Lansing speakers from my mom's Asus A52J couldn't match sound quality......

Use one key recovery then, and reset to factory settings... Refer to your manual, coz I dont have detail steps on that...

But if you want real clean install as in reformat everything and install without even lenovo apps, you can download ISO from Microsoft using your serial key on the COA attached at the bottom of your laptop...

Gr... this method only can use when the drive is empty or you will need to delete anything inside to proceed... Currently i have Win7 on my SSD with 2 partition so want to put the Win8 on another partition but the recovery don't allow me to do so... vmad.gif

Asus Altec Lansing in A-series are weak.
Bang & Olufsen on the Asus N46/N56 is better.

Thanks for the reply. I'll need at least an Nvidia GT640 or better for CUDA development. The Y-series look very attractive.

i dont mind the weight actually but i really mind Asus G55's weight. My friend has it and he told me to carry the laptop in his backpack and after just 15 mins my shoulder starts to ache.....Y580 is still considered light for a gaming laptop.

P.S a laptop with SSD always felt lighter... biggrin.gif
