agreed.

Love Win 8 within a week. boot time and responses is better.
the messenger tiles can connect with other messenger such as FB, msn & etc.
same goes with email, contact can connect to the FB as well. the metro tiles have a lots of usefull apps to make the user experience like using a tablet.

love it very much... thumbup.gif

hi guys, i've been using Y480. I mod my rig by moving the hdd to the odd using a caddy to reduce the heat problem on the hdd.

My fren is looking to buy Y400 now. He'd like to know from those owners of Y400:

1) Is there heat problem on Y400 (like Y480)? Do you need to do the same (moving hdd) like on the Y480?

2) What's the average price of Y400 now?

3) Is there great improvement over Y480?

Really happy with this laptop temperature n noise level. :-)

Hi, Thanks, looks like Y400 is good on temperature. What's your temp when playing games, and on normal use?

1) Can u snap a picture of ur y480 back?does it change the shape or look of the laptop (i mean does it look bulkier)? 2)How much it cost for modding by moving the hdd to the odd?what is caddy? I guess it voids the warranty right? icon_question.gif

Stephen,

No need pictures, you won't see any difference. can refer pictures hear, a lot of us bought from him:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2363123/+360

cost is very cheap (~50), it won't void the warranty (if you are careful not to spoil anything doing the swap).

So u mean that i have to take out the whole ODD to replace it with Caddy(or Hdd)? Then the ODD is left in the open?Ohya,Caddy is like a cover is it? Means even if i did insert a disc it wont read or work right since its like a container (i read it in wikipedia, still kinda confuse..) Anyway Chopin, what is your temperature of your Hdd when under heavy load like gaming or other things? rclxub.gif

The HDD will be moved to the ODD bay, and the hdd bay will be empty so that you can put SSD in it if you have one. you can spend an extra RM10 to convert your internal dvd drive to become an external, refer to post #1 of the same seller (skycrawler):

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2363123

btw, this is for y480/580, not for y400. you can ask skycrawler whether he has anything for y400/500 if u owns y400.

about the temperatures, in non-game situatuion it is between 38 to 50 C with no cooler used, i don't play games, so no ideas. but as far as i know, many y480/580 users here have done this mod and all are happy with the new temperatures, so i'm 100% confident about this. Yuo can read the earlier pages in this thread and also in our first thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2375417, many reports and discussions have been posted there.

and im not even use notebook cooler.  smile.gif

ok that is very good. looks like y400 has got the design right this time so no need to modify it anymore, i think that's why no caddy is made for this model.

yup. runs awesome. i'm going to have re runs all my fav games.. no wonder they delay my order. didnt expect it to be so though. got the machine, boot it up, installed some games. was about to update gpu software and install ntunes when i saw... wtf! 750? it was released very recently. it ranks above 660m (http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-750M.90245.0.html). in a way its better spec than Y580, gpu wise.. but i doubt it remain that long. 7XXm series is going to hit Y580 soon, and sure as hell it'll get a beefier GPU.

anybody has upgraded their ram? i was thinking to give it an upgrade to 16GB ram. anybody has tried these (http://www.corsair.com/vengeance-8gb-high-performance-sodimm-memory-upgrade-kit-cmsx8gx3m2a1600c9.html)? is there any alternatives out there?

bro, mind telling your y400's detailed specs and $$$? thinking of upgrading la...
