hi all

i am currently seeking to terminate my metrofon service due to extremely bad service from their side these couple of months. which broadband do u guys use to play SC2? any lag with the broadband? below is the list of broadband (fiber) that i had found

Unifi - somewhat skeptical due to TMNet
Maxis - forumers in Maxis broadband forum say they are not suitable for gaming
TIME - not available in my area
Jaring - same as TIME

I have been on 10mbps Unifi since October 2011 and I have no complaints. I have to say however that I experience more lag spikes on BNet-SEA than on BNet-NA, even though BNet-SEA servers are located in Singapore.

I used to have 4mbps Streamyx from May to September 2011 and service was a bit intermittent, but generally okay. Get Streamyx only if you don't have fiber service in your area.

In the days before I got my Unifi service, I used the complimentary P1 wireless broadband provided by my landlord. Playing SC2 on P1 was horrible, both on SEA and NA. With how inconsistent wireless broadband is, I would have to believe that generally, all wireless broadband is horrible for online gaming. Ping, jitter and actual down/up speeds would be inconsistent as service is dependent on the wireless signal from the cell towers.

Hi guys, saGus here. Some of you might be aware of my internet problem concerning a housemate who doesn't understand p2p torrent rapes bandwidth, so I'm considering a desperate move to buy wireless broadband dedicated to only sc2.

U guys have any experience on playing with wireless broadband? maxis, digi?lag issue? quota issue? Coz I have monitored the speed when playing, 1k-10kbps only, but i dunno what happens if there is patch update.

Pls help guys. I miss SC2! cry.gif

I think it'll be able to play only within SEA server. Probably a little lag espeacially in 4v4

I've just recently moved to another condo which unfortunately does not have DSL/Fiber coverage. So I'm now stuck with using Maxis wireless broadband.

I use my Galaxy S2 phone as a HSDPA+ modem and access point. I live on the 10th floor so I guess I could rate my broadband experience as so-so. If I get HSDPA+ signal, I could download up to 300KBps. However, there are times that I could only get an EDGE signal, which drops speed to an unfortunate 10KBps.

If I get HSDPA+ consistently, playing on Bnet is ok. I've played a few custom games, but I wouldn't wanna risk playing on ladder though.

should be okay man. I was fine with 1mbps for a long time when playing (until my stupid housemate opened torrent). sc2 only use around 1-10kbps anyways during gameplay, so I'm guessing there must something else using ur bandwidth. maybe some background programs?

Wireless broadband is generally unreliable. So even with HSDPA+, 300KBps is not consistent as the wireless signal fluctuates.

I get lag spikes here and there, so what I have is enough for custom games. I'm going to wait for Unifi before I return to ladder.

wireless YES, maxis etc mobile provider is not really an option. You might get good latency test but when in actual game with latency on, u will notice the ping jump up and down. So sometimes u will be amazing on your micro and suddenly your banshee flies like Malaysia airforce.

I am in singapore now, same problem, only landline is reliable.

Yup, thats one downside. Inconsistent signals. Even 1mbps is enuff as long its landline.

Hmmm, I'm not experiencing that issue. Maybe it's device specific? I use a Yes Huddle, and I didn't experience said ping jumping. OTOH I experience crazy ping jumping if I use my N97 as a dial up modem (*99#) for Digi Internet.

Anyway tho, I also use UniFi when I'm not on the move, so far no complaints. Ping is incredibly low.
