It could be due to someone else nearby having a wifi network on the same channel, and thus conflicting with your signal. Try changing the wifi router channel to another one, like say, 11.

The WP8 OS is like the iPhone's. It's a lot more restricted than Android because of security measures to protect from unauthorized access or viruses. There isn't a file management system and you can only copy paste certain types of media to certain folders and vice versa. There isn't any problems with "stability". Right now WP8 is pretty solid and the only thing holding it back is probably certain types of US-based apps and of course, Google services (which you can access via the browser but there aren't any apps for Gmail or Gmaps but there are some for Youtube).

WP8 is probably the most noob friendly aside from iOS. Battery life is subjective. It depends on what you're going to use it for but let's be honest, all smartphones have sucky battery life. If you want to use 3G data constantly, then you should expect poor battery life for any smartphone.

I don't think so. It's just switching to another "lane in the road" in terms of wifi.
