I'm pretty new to console gaming as I've been always game on PC, but Kinect has changed everything for me... So now I'm very attracted to Kinect and seeing quite a good deal in this holiday season over here in US, I'm planning to get one. Though one thing that I'm not very sure is, how does the region lock works.

Is it tied to the account we used or it's hardcoded in the console itself so that consoles bought in US will never work with other region locked games? I'm in US for a while and will be back in Malaysia in a few months. So what I'm afraid of is that if I bought the console here, I can't play any region locked games ever in Malaysia, there's no point in buying... but if it's tied to the account we used for the xbox, probably I can just register my location in malaysia or singapore?

Sadly region lock is tied to region itself, not about where your account was registered.
