when your phone auto shutdown, were you charging the phone?
do you remember your phone was running which software? 4.1.1 jelly bean?
when did you purchased your phone? first batch?

if you take out your battery, check the sticker at the phone, where was it made from? Made by samsung? Made in korea by samsung? Made in Vietnam? Made in china?

gathering these info will help us to understand more about the failure..

international forum a lot user reported that faulty were came from the batch with "made by samsung" unit..

so if your phone:
# made by samsung
# first batch which purchased within May->August
# running 4.1.1 jelly bean
# like to overcharge, or charge overnight
# using original s3 charger

then very likely will have this sudden death risk..

so, back to questions, i hope you dont mind to help answer several questions
1) when your phone died, were you charging the phone?
2) do you remember your phone was running which software? 4.1.1 jelly bean?
3) when did you purchased your phone? first batch?

hmm
so until now
Samsung still has not released the source codes for the exynos
*
got, but some old code. developer need new and more source code for RIL (i read from XDA but dont know what is RIL), and seems without proper code the development for 4.2.1 AOSP rom is slow..

i9100G s2g has got aosp 4.2 rom already, because it is using TI processor and has source code opened

May i ask,she charge the phone during power on or turn off to charge ?
If possible I want make it deads then get replacement in warranty period, not finding trouble but.....it is better happen right now than future biggrin.gif
*
you might not be so lucky.. but if you trying to fry your phone
large number of users were charging while phone on. make sure you running 4.1.1, using s3 original charger, run your battery to almost flat and charge overnight..

if like this
then i guess best choice will b stick back wit sammy based rom
*
i have been switching between sammy rom (omega) and aosp (cm10)

Sammy pros:
# very good battery life even with stock kernel, even better battery life with 3rd party kernel like yank555.lu
# with samsung motion features, like the smart stay, turn to mute call..
# samsung multi-view feature

AOSP pros:
# faster, smoother
# on-screen virtual button (navigation bar)
# nexus alike
# get new android release faster than sammy
# skip song with volume button (this required mod in sammy rom, but only works in ICS, after JB the MOD not working anymore)
# 2g/3g toggle at notification bar

i use LightFlow, so it actually disables swype due to some bug..

therefore i've been looking forward to swiftkey flow for a long time now..

stupid bug, i actually really love swype  sweat.gif

try touchpal, can input as swype, and there are few keyboard layout to choose from, very nice keyboard with prediction and learning

also, if you are chinese and you will like this keyboard, the chinese input is far better than google pinyin keyboard.

good morning ~

Siyah's updated to v1.84
change log: reverted VM_MAX_READAHEAD commit.
adjusted cpu hotplug in/out rates in pegasusq because they were just too low after decreasing the sampling time.

BTW, new PAC-Man Rom (JB 4.1.2) is in house.. a combo of Paranoid + AOKP + CM10  smile.gif
*
i am using siyah 1.8, feeling that battery life is not that good if compare to siyah 1.7 with same tuning.. not sure what causing it..

i will try this 1.84, and if the battery life still no improve, then will try yank555.lu kernel..

how long they will replace one for me, and after replace, then no more warranty ah?

samsung replace means warranty continues, depends on whether they have stock for motherboard, some were waiting up to 3 weeks.

ic~

that means they just replace new motherboard insist of replace a nwe set for me?
*
yes, there is no such thing as 1 to 1 replacement.. even first 7 days of unit purchased also no 1 to 1 replacement.. damn malaysia law does not protect consumer..

i read at other forum, europe user can flash their rom or root it without getting warranty void. they are protected by some sort of open software law, so they are not limited to original software, they are free to flash their phone to whatever software they like.

Another one. doh.gif
Where did you got this info..?
Official statement issued by Samsung spokesperson. ?
Mine is first batch Made in Korea by Samsung and no issue at all. Please refrain on giving this type of statement. Any electronic goods can get random defect or died suddenly.  Nothing to do with made in where or what batch.
*
i read every pages in xda, multiple different thread from t-mobile verizon also. here is 1 of the hot topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...1&postcount=233

and for the pass few weeks i am actively gathering information from those who had their mobo died.

nothing official, but high chance, or timing or luck.

I worked in RMA line for international company, anything more than certain % failure rate is consider batch problem. but we will not officially tell customer they are using problem batch, but we will claim if they came forward with a faulty device.

what/how to make your phone high chance to get the motherboard fried:
# first batch
# h/w ver is MP1.100
# using original charger (only several users raise this concern up)
# charging overnight and charging too long after the phone charged to 100% (too many people fried their phone this way)
# running jelly bean 4.1.1 (only several cases reported saying their phone was on ICS or AOSP rom)

i respect your point of view, if you think i should not analyze this and help the others to understand more, i will delete everything and leave this forum.

good luck everybody.
