12" is small. I am using 700M. But once you get used to it, should be ok. Big screen comes with a price which is heavy

Yup, 12" is a bit small, but it is more light weight and easy to carry!!
I am using a few years old Acer 12" notebook (that time 14" or 15" still quite expensive) for working purpose, with the notebook power cable and charger and some document inside the notebook bag, it will weight for more then 3.5kg, sometime carry it walk here walk there for sometime then you will feel the shoulder tired also. . . if you don't need to carry the notebook here and there, go for 14" or 15" one!! IM using a 12.1" Widescreen and I feels it ok. This is my 2nd 12 notebook the previous one a normal square 12".
Portability is my priority to I tend to go for the light and small ones. But 12.1" is where I draw the line. Any smaller and I won't consider.... 1280X800 RESOLUTION is fine with me.... |

The keyboard size depends on the brand. Some have the standard size however the Dell 700M im using has a slightly reduced size keyboard. Nothing I can't handle though even though I have big hands. The resolution is the max for this model's 12.1" widescreenQUOTE(jamezco @ Mar 10 2006, 12:30 AM) I am 100% guy .... Even though you're 100% guy, it would still be nice to carry a lighter lappie. Nowadays its common to find one below 2kgs.... |

Like the portable, could carry it everywhere.
In fact, now the company that I am working with, has a new policy. All laptop will be portable, light and powerful. Think this is a good approach. Can't tahan carrying the heavy laptop everywhere. End of the day think the company is trying to be employee responsibility. However, problems with portable:- 1. smaller keyboard 2. smaller screen 3. lesser ports Anyway, except the larger screen, I have then added the full size keyboard and USB hubs so that I could connect to more devices. |
