What chapters were tested for both Physics and Biology , and how were the formats ?

Hi, guys. Planning to buy the past year papers books in two days time. I think it's out d. What do you guys think about buying which type of past year would be more essential? The one that follow the year or the one that follows the chapters?

I asked my friends about their opinion too. Some said that past year that follow year will be better because u would not probably know the chapter they are from, better for some of them..

I think the tropical past year is not out yet.

Another thing is: my teacher told us that it will be better to buy the SBP past year trial paper book only by october, because it will probably include this year trial paper. Do you think SBP is essential?

Anyway, how's you all's study progress?

I've checked the SBP answers and I believe they are very reliable . Your teacher probably discourages you because SBP uses different terms than we do , like neural canal instead of vertebral foramen and vertebrarterial canal instead of transverse foramen . Sasbadi's newest topical book ( a book with all the chapters from form 4 till form 5 ) is good , the answers are good , but there's a lack of exercises for practical reports , and most of the questions are reproduced from trial papers .

I never trust Pelangi for exercises as they are not in line with the SPM format . Just check their answers for operational definition and you'll understand . This applies for other subjects as well . Longman's has out of the syllabus questions but the answers are generally reliable .  Cerdik has good questions , answers are quite acceptable , it's written by a Guru Cemerlang . But the conclusion is , after all those exercises , it's best to jump back to the past year questions book .

You should not trust a person fully , no matter how qualified that person is . Question . By questioning , you'll learn . Ask him what are the questions that have the wrong answers and then check them for yourself .

Longman Super Score for me is so-so ... Firstly , the questions are not according to SPM's standard . Too many unconventional questions .

For Physics , I would recommend the Effective Practice Physics written by Lee Cheng Xi ( form four ) . If you can get the form five one ( 2011 ) by the same author then it's better . Reason being , the questions are not too hard but not too simple , with clone questions and answers that are according to the SPM format .

For Add Maths , I don't use any books as there are tons of questions in the reference books , like SUCCESS . That , coupled with Trial / Past Year Questions are more than enough .

Chemistry , I do trial papers . I've finished all the Electrochemistry questions from all the states in 2012 , will go on to Acids and Bases and beyond .

Add maths can self study?

Unfortunately I'm not hardworking enough . Still have a long long way to go , so much to cover !

I'm still on my way , preparing for my monthly test ( which begins tomorrow ! ) and I have to say , Sejarah Chapter 2 Form Five is a literally long-ass chapter ! So many facts to cram in , and so politically dense . 
Biology is all right . I absolutely love Form Five Bio , especially the anatomy part . I have both the Bio-Score modules , form four and form five ( but they are pretty old , 2010 version , a 2nd hand one passed down to me by a senior from another state ) , and I have to say , they are pretty good . There are some terms that are different from the ones in my Negeri Sembilan textbook , so I try to mix and match by reading certain parts and getting all the information possible from all sources . I have Sasbadi , Longman , Pelangi and SUCCESS Bio books ( 3/4 were given to me ) . Here's a clue to what I'm facing : Are baroreceptors stretched , or are they more stimulated ? Sympathetic nerves , or increased rate of nerve impulses sent ?

I also have both the Chemistry modules by Wan Afifah but they are all BLANK . I just got hold of them last week . ( again , passed down to me by a senior ) . No answers ( same goes to both of my Bio-score modules ! ) . But I have no complaints as I'm pretty comfortable with my form four Chemistry .

For trial papers , you'd have to search for them online or try checking out the first page of this thread .

Do update us on your current study regime , I need motivation too ! My class is full of clueless , happy go lucky students and it's hard to maintain my discipline .

Actually baroreceptors are sensory nerves , they don't get stretched themselves , but detect the stretching of blood vessels and send nerve impulses to the cardiovascular centre in the medulla oblongata . That's why in SUCCESS / N.S Textbook , they are careful by not mentioning about stretching , but includes this phrase "baroreceptors are more stimulated / baroreceptors are less stimulated" . In Bio-score , there's this phrase "baroreceptors are inhibited" but they aren't really , they are just not that stimulated .

But in SPM of course you'll have to follow either the ones in Bio-score or reference books , not the actual fact . 

You seem to be very hardworking . I never study past 10.30 / 11.00 . I tried doing that , but the results were horrible as I couldn't sleep due to the Sejarah facts spinning around my head . So I stop studying at around 10.00 , listen to music , watch TV , talk with my family members , then sleep .

Actually what I had intended to ask was not your study regime , but your progress . That way I'll have a benchmark so I won't slack . 

Holidays are nearly over . Mid terms are approaching . Trials are approaching . o.O

To darrenliew96 , a virtual image , in simple terms is an image that doesn't exist . The image is created by our brain . But in SPM , you need to define it as " Image that cannot be formed on a screen " .

I'm happy to see these positive responses . Finally , this thread is coming alive . Hopefully there'll be more questions .

As for my first day of school today , I'm tired . It's frustrating to see those demotivating people all over again . Do you know what my Bio teacher told us today ? " I'm sure all of you will fail when it comes to designing an experiment for paper three . I don't know what to do with all of you . "

Not to mention homework that isn't beneficial , but is required to be completed by tomorrow . I'm sure this week I won't have time for revision . I think I'll start caring less about homework around May .

I've finished five form four Bio chapters during the holidays . So my task now is to finish the remaining big chapters like Nutrition , Respiration and the two manageable environment chapters . For Sejarah , my progress has  been stagnant .

I received my test results today . I'm satisfied , but there were several small errors that are avoidable . Oh well , at least I'll not repeat them in the coming exams .

As for the discussion about language subjects , I'm not sure . In some schools many got A+ for BM , but in my school , only one . I'm sure it has something to do with the student and not the examiner / grade , because a neighbouring school ( top in district ) has got a number of A+ BM scorers . So I think the teacher(s) in my school should stop blaming the difficulty of the paper and start improving themselves .
