Here's my progress.
I'm ranked 21 out of 270-310 students of my batch. I got elected as a secretary for English club ZZZZZZZZ. My tuition is SO HECTIC Monday I have BM Tuesday I have Physics Wednesday I have Biology Thursday I have Add Maths and Sejarah Friday I have Chemistry. Not only that I have 20023020130120 homeworks a day like crazy man. I've been having lack of sleep thank god I slept for like 11 hours this weekend. My form 4 IDK HOW ANYMORE so many homeworks and tuitions like crazy. I guess I just need to do exercises instead of revising it again to remember everything again. I've concluded that Saturday will be my Form 4 + homework day while Sunday would be my Form 5 day and Friday night would be my rest day. I'm focusing more on Physics and Add Maths because I have a form 4 physics and add maths test this 31st January zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |

QUOTE(lee.01 @ Mar 9 2013, 12:00 AM) Hi, guys. Planning to buy the past year papers books in two days time. I think it's out d. What do you guys think about buying which type of past year would be more essential? The one that follow the year or the one that follows the chapters? I think you should buy the past year book and also the past year analisis bertopik book. Firstly, thanks for the opinions. Keep the opinion coming. I hope it's never too late to start studying now??? Mainly because I always use the analisis bertopik since it tells you how to tackle the types of questions and such and lol it helped me A LOT. I think for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Add Maths, Mod Maths, Sejarah and Agama if you're muslim. you should buy. but you can just buy both. |

QUOTE(lee.01 @ Mar 9 2013, 05:08 PM) I asked my friends about their opinion too. Some said that past year that follow year will be better because u would not probably know the chapter they are from, better for some of them.. DO NOT BUY THE BIOLOGY SBP ONE.I think the tropical past year is not out yet. Still deliberating~ Another thing is: my teacher told us that it will be better to buy the SBP past year trial paper book only by october, because it will probably include this year trial paper. Do you think SBP is essential? Anyway, how's you all's study progress? My teacher who is the head of marking scheme for biology spm in Selangor(i think, but he is one of the big people lah) doesn't recommend it since it contains some wrong answers. he said just stick to Past Years using topical one, and idk he recommends Pelangi/Sasbadi for exercise. and if you have the bio score module it will be better~ My progress Physics - Waves, Electricity, Heat and Pressure Biology - Chapter 1 form 5. Form 4 need to revise again hahaha but i guess by just doing exercises. Sejarah - Form 4 chapter 4-6. Form 5 1-2 Chemistry - Form 4 need to revise~ but i love chem so yeah hehe <3 and form 5 1-2(Alcohol) Mod Maths - just need to do exercises Add Maths - need to strengthen my form 4 by exercises and form 5 1-3. Agama - lol need to re-read i guess zzzz BM- improving i guess, kept on doing karangan and hantar to my teacher BI - gonna start This post has been edited by assymessy: Mar 9 2013, 10:04 PM |

QUOTE(maximR @ Mar 9 2013, 10:53 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I've checked the SBP answers and I believe they are very reliable . Your teacher probably discourages you because SBP uses different terms than we do , like neural canal instead of vertebral foramen and vertebrarterial canal instead of transverse foramen . Sasbadi's newest topical book ( a book with all the chapters from form 4 till form 5 ) is good , the answers are good , but there's a lack of exercises for practical reports , and most of the questions are reproduced from trial papers . I never trust Pelangi for exercises as they are not in line with the SPM format . Just check their answers for operational definition and you'll understand . This applies for other subjects as well . Longman's has out of the syllabus questions but the answers are generally reliable . Cerdik has good questions , answers are quite acceptable , it's written by a Guru Cemerlang . But the conclusion is , after all those exercises , it's best to jump back to the past year questions book . Never tried Pelangi. Longman super score IS VERY GOOD. It makes you understand further and lol I use physics and chemistry form 5 using Longman. Though Idk for add maths what book is GOOD ? exercises, and biology form 5? Usually i just spam the past year questions and they all would come out in a similar fashion kind of. |

QUOTE(maximR @ Mar 10 2013, 04:47 PM) You should not trust a person fully , no matter how qualified that person is . Question . By questioning , you'll learn . Ask him what are the questions that have the wrong answers and then check them for yourself . Yay thank you for telling me Longman Super Score for me is so-so ... Firstly , the questions are not according to SPM's standard . Too many unconventional questions . For Physics , I would recommend the Effective Practice Physics written by Lee Cheng Xi ( form four ) . If you can get the form five one ( 2011 ) by the same author then it's better . Reason being , the questions are not too hard but not too simple , with clone questions and answers that are according to the SPM format . For Add Maths , I don't use any books as there are tons of questions in the reference books , like SUCCESS . That , coupled with Trial / Past Year Questions are more than enough . Chemistry , I do trial papers . I've finished all the Electrochemistry questions from all the states in 2012 , will go on to Acids and Bases and beyond . Oh, I bought the smart practice oxford for form 4 chemistry and blegh it sucked. I've been sticking the module by Wan Noor Afifah and I highly recommend you the SPOTLIGHT reference book for chemistry. Also longman for chemistry exercises. It's really good. Well my teacher forced all of us to use the SPOTLIGHT and Module and it works! I've been trying to improvise my Physics and Add maths. My weak points. Hopefully, I'll get better. I've seen improvements on my Physics so yeah. Also can I please have the link to past years trials examination papers ? All state ? This post has been edited by assymessy: Mar 10 2013, 06:00 PM |

QUOTE(LawrenceLoL @ Mar 18 2013, 09:46 PM) Basically, Add Maths is just doing practise and latihan. Better yet, spam those Past Years questions. It's always important to keep on practising with latihan. And if you're stuck... or don't understand... ALWAYS ASK YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE GOOD IN ADD MATHS OR BETTER YET ASK YOUR TEACHER. |

QUOTE(maximR @ Mar 19 2013, 02:48 PM) Unfortunately I'm not hardworking enough . Still have a long long way to go , so much to cover ! Haha okay sure.I'm still on my way , preparing for my monthly test ( which begins tomorrow ! ) and I have to say , Sejarah Chapter 2 Form Five is a literally long-ass chapter ! So many facts to cram in , and so politically dense . Biology is all right . I absolutely love Form Five Bio , especially the anatomy part . I have both the Bio-Score modules , form four and form five ( but they are pretty old , 2010 version , a 2nd hand one passed down to me by a senior from another state ) , and I have to say , they are pretty good . There are some terms that are different from the ones in my Negeri Sembilan textbook , so I try to mix and match by reading certain parts and getting all the information possible from all sources . I have Sasbadi , Longman , Pelangi and SUCCESS Bio books ( 3/4 were given to me ) . Here's a clue to what I'm facing : Are baroreceptors stretched , or are they more stimulated ? Sympathetic nerves , or increased rate of nerve impulses sent ? I also have both the Chemistry modules by Wan Afifah but they are all BLANK . I just got hold of them last week . ( again , passed down to me by a senior ) . No answers ( same goes to both of my Bio-score modules ! ) . For trial papers , you'd have to search for them online or try checking out the first page of this thread . Do update us on your current study regime , I need motivation too ! My class is full of clueless , happy go lucky students and it's hard to maintain my discipline . I think barorecepters are stretched, since it is a stretch-sensitive receptor. Impulses are then sent, to the cardiovascular centre at Medulla Oblongata. Then it will SEND the impulses by the parasympathetic nerve to heart and the blood vessels which results in the decrease of heart rate hehe. Tho that's for the when BP is high tho. Use the module well, it contains very good questions and we don't even need a notebook haha. We only use that as our reference. Though it's up to you to decide, I'm just suggesting. For my study routine.... well.. I have tuition from Mon-Fri 8-10 pm -.- In the evening, sometimes I rest, sometimes I sleep. Though after resting/sleeping I do my homework. Then pergi tusyen masa malam. Then when tuition ends, rest for 30 minutes and would study till 12:30-2AM haha usually I would last till 12:45 :S I've been revising form 4 for now. My Form 5, I keep them up to date with exercises and reading casually. Mid terms are coming soon.......... |

QUOTE(maximR @ Mar 19 2013, 06:35 PM) Actually baroreceptors are sensory nerves , they don't get stretched themselves , but detect the stretching of blood vessels and send nerve impulses to the cardiovascular centre in the medulla oblongata . That's why in SUCCESS / N.S Textbook , they are careful by not mentioning about stretching , but includes this phrase "baroreceptors are more stimulated / baroreceptors are less stimulated" . In Bio-score , there's this phrase "baroreceptors are inhibited" but they aren't really , they are just not that stimulated . Oooo sorry my bad then ! -.-'' But in SPM of course you'll have to follow either the ones in Bio-score or reference books , not the actual fact . You seem to be very hardworking . I never study past 10.30 / 11.00 . I tried doing that , but the results were horrible as I couldn't sleep due to the Sejarah facts spinning around my head . So I stop studying at around 10.00 , listen to music , watch TV , talk with my family members , then sleep . Actually what I had intended to ask was not your study regime , but your progress . That way I'll have a benchmark so I won't slack . Well yeah, for spm sadly I am focusing more on how to tackle the questions and the spm syllabus. Though a few additional info won't hurt but yeah I'm focusing more on SPM. Haha trust me, i usually fill my night time by spamming exercises. Reading... well when I have the mood. But usually it's exercises !!! Well.... for my form 4.... biology 5/9 Physics 2.5/5 Chemistry 7/9 Add Maths 4/11 Mod Maths 4/??? Agama.. lol Sejarah 3/?? Yeahhhh right now I've been understanding tatabahasa and trying to improve karangan for BM |

Whoa everyone is pumped up!
Well here's a little info of my school. I'm from Shah Alam, and from SMK Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, Selangor. My school was established in the year 1998 i think ?? until then we've only produced 2 Straight A+ students. Both of them are from the 1994' batch. This year, I'm aiming to be the next getting straight A+. Wish me luck, and I hope we all achieve great awesome results guys. Especially you @maximR, you're like really hardworking and rajin and all that good stuff I'm gonna say my strong points would be Chemistry, then Biology. My weakest.... BM and Physics, zzz. Yes, the marking scheme for Biology is the strictest and hardest I think? That's what my tuition teacher said. He's the head of the marking scheme for Biology. It's no surprise that in my class, 5 SC 1 most of them would get A-/A for Biology. My school teacher said that, but during SPM most of them could acquire B... yikes it is very terrifying! Also very scared for BM Sadly, in 2011 my school didn't produce any straight A+ students. The highest... 8A+2A. The A's I THINK is Biology and BM. I really hope I can get 9A+. Let's all help each other out guys! Try to put in some tips on how to study that and this and how to prepare blablaba This post has been edited by assymessy: Mar 31 2013, 10:02 PM |

QUOTE(maximR @ Apr 1 2013, 08:04 PM) To darrenliew96 , a virtual image , in simple terms is an image that doesn't exist . The image is created by our brain . But in SPM , you need to define it as " Image that cannot be formed on a screen " . Don't worry, you got us I'm happy to see these positive responses . Finally , this thread is coming alive . Hopefully there'll be more questions . As for my first day of school today , I'm tired . It's frustrating to see those demotivating people all over again . Do you know what my Bio teacher told us today ? " I'm sure all of you will fail when it comes to designing an experiment for paper three . I don't know what to do with all of you . " Not to mention homework that isn't beneficial , but is required to be completed by tomorrow . I'm sure this week I won't have time for revision . I think I'll start caring less about homework around May . I've finished five form four Bio chapters during the holidays . So my task now is to finish the remaining big chapters like Nutrition , Respiration and the two manageable environment chapters . For Sejarah , my progress has been stagnant . I received my test results today . I'm satisfied , but there were several small errors that are avoidable . Oh well , at least I'll not repeat them in the coming exams . As for the discussion about language subjects , I'm not sure . In some schools many got A+ for BM , but in my school , only one . I'm sure it has something to do with the student and not the examiner / grade , because a neighbouring school ( top in district ) has got a number of A+ BM scorers . So I think the teacher(s) in my school should stop blaming the difficulty of the paper and start improving themselves . How are you preparing for mid terms ? Do you like do exercises on trial papers and SPM papers or how ? I've been spamming the past years for add maths. But idk how to revise differentiation I really want to get into Niners A+..... |

My progress for mid terms...... Mid terms will be on 2/5 O.O anyway.
Biology - Chapter 1-5, 6.1-6.5, 7.1-7.2 Chemistry - Chapter 1-7, I'm halfway done thru chapter 8. So one and a half chapter left! Physics - Chapter 3-4. Chapter 5.1-5.3. Chapter 2 zzz idk how... Maths - Chapter 1-8 Add Maths - Chapter 5,6,7,8,10,11,1,2,3,4. Sejarah - SO DEAD FOR THIS ONE! Chapter 4-6, Chapter 10.1-10.2 Agama - .... idk. 1/3 out of form 4 I think zzzz I am very worried for the reading subjects more. Mainly biology, sejarah and agama. ZZZ I have one week left, before starting next week. I plan to focus solely on form 5 for 2 weeks. Then, 1 week before exams would be spamming trial and spm papers...... Idk.... whether will I make it or not This post has been edited by assymessy: Apr 7 2013, 04:58 PM |
