i'm planning to study business (finance) at help uni college. does ptptn offer full loan for the course? i mean, for example, if course fees for year 1 is $15k, will i get $15k from ptptn?

Answer is no.

You can't get one lump sum. They process the payouts in batches.

for example,

the WHOLE COURSE for a programme is RM16k, and you apply for the loan. They will see if you are qualified for the loan and decide what amount you should get. If you fail at the requirements, then you're off.
Then IF they set your loan to be RM15k, then it would be not more than that. And this money you cannot collect the whole figure, they will 'pay' you the money in batches.
Like in one year alone, they only release RM5k for business students. And that RM5k is made in two payments, one at the first sem (first half of the year) with the sum of RM2500 and the second half will be given at the second sem (second half of the year)

Even if you got the loan, it's a pain to wait for the money to arrive to you. Like some of us borrowers are still waiting for the payout where it was suppose to be released in 2007. Now we are still waiting...

If you apply for this loan, you need to fork out your own money first in order to pay and wait for them to release the fund to you... Which is really a troublesome matter.

Some Financial Support...

thanks for the reply. does this also apply to public uni students?

another question: how do they decide how much they will give me? do they see my results and check my family income to decide the amount? why do some ppl get partial loan, some get full loan? icon_question.gif

I thought it was you who decide to either get Full Loan or Half Loan...
Then only they will approve you the loan after check your family income.

lol i'm a noob at this, so i don't know much. so if i get rejected for a full loan will they give me half loan instead?

and is it true that public uni students will get more money compared to private uni students?

may/june itself. you will need to purchase the form(in advance) and open SSPN account.

so when will they start bank in money into my account? if i get the money after the due date to pay my 1st semester fees i'll have to pay the fees myself first, right?

i'm a bit confused about the SSPN account. let's say my family's income is less than Rm2000, so according to the rules my account has to have at least Rm500. wanna ask is it a must to have the RM500 in my account first before i apply for PTPTN? do i have to put in RM500 when i register for SSPN?

PTPTN can only be applied at starting of college? Or can be applied anytime ? PLEASE ANSWER ME PEOPLE

TQ
*
you have to apply through your college. every college has its own application period. you can only apply within the period itself, not anytime.

i myself have to bear the fees of the 1st semester while waiting for my college to start accepting application. doh.gif

On every beginning of the semester, one is allowed to apply for PTPTN loan, and take note that you can only apply until your final year in the institution. For instance, if you're studying for 4 years, the latest you can apply for PTPTN is only up till Year 3. Year 4 cannot apply already.
*
my intake starts in May but i was told that i can only apply in September. well then i'm lucky that i'll be studying for 3 years, not 4 laugh.gif

Funny. Normally upon the beginning of the semester, even it's semester 1, we're allowed to apply for PTPTN loan. In-fact, it's supposed to be like this, then the money will be approved and will be banked-in on the second semester. May i know which institution will you be studying?
*
i'll be studying at HELP. i've checked the PTPTN website; it's stated that the next date for application is September. the ppl at HELP didn't even allow me to buy the PTPTN form yet. but yeah it's kinda funny actually. my 2nd semester is in Sept so i'm also worried if i'll have to bear my 2nd sem fees too if PTPTN couldn't bank in on time hmm.gif

yes you do (but not necessarily rm500 though, depends on your family income). in fact opening the SSPN account is one of the requirements you have to fulfil to get the loan. smile.gif

can i apply for ptptn without going thru my university (mmu) cos i kinda miss the hari ptptn and it would be too bad to miss this sem's payment sad.gif
*
no you can't. you have to submit your form to your uni.
PTPTN will not accept forms submitted straight to their office.

guys, just want to ask about IPTS students to apply for the PTPTN. This IPTS is just open at 08 Aug 2008.now just study lan subject only.

1. can i apply PTPTN now for next coming long semester? notworthy.gif

2.  can IPTS use PTPTN online register or can only use Borang OMR? if yes, is there is any due date for it for this year? notworthy.gif

3. Is the PTPTN Officer will come to the college themselve automatically or the school need to contact them to come? notworthy.gif
*
you should enquire your IPTS about questions 1 and 2. normally the PTPTN officers will only come if there are more students applying (for example if there are more than 200 students applying, then they will come to give a talk). smile.gif
