if you split I dun think we can get the desire amount of aircraft.
it is a whole differ story compare to the migs case. IIRC we get the migs very cheaps price.

Saab were playing it smartly "lease the gripen perhaps they even throw in AEW deals as well".
I'm seeing these deals is much higher for split buying.
special budget for AEW is highly possible compare to special budget for jet fighter

Sebenarnya masa Dr.M berkuasa pihak US memang tak duduk senang policies Dr. M yang agak aggresive terhadap Singapore.
apabila Dr. M dah retire US pun dah turunkan weapons restriction kat Malaysia.
pada masa yang sama pertukaran politics kat US dan kuasa China pun menjadi factor utama AS membenarkan Malaysia membeli senjata yang higher standard.

SH merupakan salah satu MMRCA yang tulen sekali kalau dibandingkan ngan fighter yang lain.
Malah saya pasti SH memang higher standard compare to EF dan rafale.
dengan SH block 2 offer kat Malaysia akan tingkatkan kuasa udara kita.

tak payah ambik itu.
Saya lebih suka kalau kita ambik JSM. cuma bayar cost integration aje.
tak ada masalah politic or restriction.

rasanya kita tak dapat JASSM. tak tau lar. tak salah kalau kita tanya mana tau dapat juga.
JSOW mungkin boleh dapat.

SH deal is more to political factors, to pleased the US!
same like what we did during the MIG, we buy MIG the US merajuk and we have to buy Hornet in small number

Maybe same again this time, in small number, the current hornet is heavily upgraded and maybe an addition about 10 plane or more while we will keep the current hornet
so the line will be more like this
18MKM (Air superiority) + 6MKMII (Pure interceptor)
18 Rafale/Typhoon (MMRCA)
12 Gripen (Leased until MMRCA come)
8 F18D (Upgrade Hornet) + 10 F18E/F (Super Horney)

Thats why I prefer the Rafale, quite durable, excellant avionics and BATTLE PROVEN....tho SH also quite good, and since US weather also got hot and humid, its also not manja like Typhoon..

F-35 already running into some problems..

So if we get f-18 SH do we get the F-18F (2 seater) or F-18E (single seater)?

Militants battle Pakistani police after attacking airport

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Militants holed up in a half-built house in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar battled security forces on Sunday after taking part in an attack on a nearby airport the previous night, officials said.

All five of the militants who were holed up in two buildings under construction were killed by the afternoon, a provincial government and army official said.

The shoot-out erupted hours after an attack on Peshawar airport. The military declared the airport secure after killing five attackers who rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall of the airfield and battled guards after dark on Saturday.

The raid on the airport was the biggest assault on a high-profile military facility in Pakistan since gunmen stormed an air base in the province of Punjab in August, and underscored the resilience and reach of Pakistan's Taliban insurgents.

The Pakistani Taliban, who have been fighting for more than five years to overthrow the state, said they had sent 10 men to attack the airport.

"Five militants were hiding in an under-construction house near Peshawar airport," said Mian Iftikhar Hussain, a spokesman for the provincial government, on Sunday.

"All of them were suicide bombers. They had weapons and hand grenades."

One policeman was killed and two wounded in the clash on Sunday, he said.

During the Saturday night attack on the airport, three rockets slammed into a nearby residential area. Health and police officials said at least four civilians had been killed and 45 wounded in the flurry of blasts and gunshots.

Authorities sealed off the airport, which handles military and civilian traffic, during the attack and suspended flights.

The gritty streets of Peshawar, the gateway to the Khyber Pass and Afghanistan beyond, have often been shaken by bomb attacks and shootings, but residents said this was the first significant raid on the heavily guarded airport.
