Frankly ver 4.2 sucks. Most users at G Nexus n Nexus 7 do not like it
Personally i find earlier version 4.1.2 is already good
I am running back 4.1.2 on my Nexus 7
Ver 4.2 does not bring great performance improvements. Whatever added features it has is unattractive n one can easily do without it

that is because you have set to sync your contacts with gmail. Just unselect this sync at your contacts app or at your gmail account settings - do not select contact sync

64 GB is default exFAT. And there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to format it again. You can use it right out of the box
