QUOTE(erszebeth @ Jun 26 2013, 10:09 AM) It is heavy actually since the weight is at 2.7kg. But since I was expecting it to be heavier than most of 14", mbp 15", then when I lifted it up, it is the lighters among the laptop I've got with me nearby for comparison. 2.7kg is light! It is light in its own league with the big boys, not with ultrabook. So I'm afraid someone might bash me with the terms light because some of forumer here will directly compare it with those 14" ultrabook. huhu Compared it to my M15X, which weighs about 5kg. |

I imagine trying to find a 17" laptop sleeve is quite hard. Or its easy? |

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Jul 14 2013, 03:49 PM) Sigh, even on a weekend, I can't seem to find the time to do it.Maybe later tonight. Will post some pics a do some reviews on this. PS: And it doesn't help that once it arrives to me, and after installing my own SSD into it, I need to do a fresh installation of Windows. |

Review for RX-17
I have made the decision to buy the Rx-17 as this is going to be my swansong for gaming. After this, I don't think i'll spend as much on computers for gaming again. And Rx-17 was the perfect choice when compared to Alienware's offering. To get the same spec as this, only Alienware 18 is on par. Which is not available in Malaysia and VERY heavy. My reason for buying this is the same as Catavatar. I travel frequently and I want one with power and portability. PS: I took the format of review from Catavatar review. Some of the things that he says are in-line as mine Tech Specs Display:17.3" Full HD LED-Backlit Super Glossy Display featuring 90% NTSC Color Gamut (Metallic Black Custom Paint) Processor:Intel Core i7-4930MX Extreme Edition (3.0GHz, 8M cache)(No stock. Using the i7-4700MQ at the moment) Graphic Card:4GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M SLI RAM: 32GB DDR3 Corsair Vengence (8GBX4) Primary Hard: Drive:Plextor M5 Pro Extreme 512GB mSATA Hard: Drive:Plextor M5M mSATA SSD 256GB Optical Drive: Blu Ray Reader Drive Wireless Network:Killer Wireless N-1103 Operating System:Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64bit IC Diamond Thermal Compound Box and Packaging As this is an expensive hardware, I opted to used DHL as the delivery service. I think all the others have known on how the laptop is usually boxed, so I am not going to talk more there. Though the power brick, it is MASSIVE. As I have opted for a Windows in my purchase, they have provided me with all the driver CD and the Windows CD. Though for the driver, as it is mainly for windows 8, I advised all of you to make another DVD with all of your updated drivers that you have. This is to lessen the headache and lessen the time you will need if you re-install windows. Laptop Build Quality and Hardware Overview As the RX-17 is of the 17.3" type, the weight is distributed evenly throughout the laptop. Holding it in one hand is much more pleasant that holding an Alienware M15X. The build quality is superb, I like it. Though if you are afraid of it scratching when in transit, I advised for you to buy a laptop sleeve.Though Alienware build quality is still one of the best I have seen. The keyboards are nice to typed on, though a bit cramped. I would prefer more to typed on an external gaming keyboard. The touchpad 'feels' fragile. Like you are pressing on glass. It is great, but not my preference. Clicking the left and right button on the touchpad also will make a sound. Network Connectivity As I am using the Killer Wireless-N 1103, all I can say is that it is a great wireless card. Not an avid online gamer myself, unless I start to play Diablo 3 again, this is an adequate card. Cooling and Layout I really like the layout of the RX-17. Everything is accessible and ordered. It is not hard to clean it when the time comes for its maintenance. For the temperature, as I cannot get to really play any games yet on this, is very good in my opinion. I will update this later after I can do some more test. Conclusion I will quote Catavatar on his conclusion : Go big or go home! This system is seriously for someone who wants a powerful desktop but having a portability of a laptop. If you are on a budget, go for the RS or RE version. This is for those that have money to spend. As this is my swansong to PC gaming, I want to go out with a bang. This laptop have a Benchmark Unigine Engine : Heaven Benchmark V2.5 Basic |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Jul 17 2013, 06:31 PM) Not yet, not yet. Syafri88 has not gone totally havoc with SATA SSD RAID and mSATA SSD RAID yet More like RM17k QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Jul 17 2013, 06:53 PM) Performance wise, not too contribution in gaming experience and easily upgradable when the budget is allowed; unlike CPU and GPU(s). After reading what SATA RAID is gonna be good for, I decided not to implement the RAID. I have another, unfortunately need a repair, Plextor 512GB. I need the space unfortunately. But you does have a point What are RAIDS good for anyway? Data Stripping and Data Mirror are the one that is the most commonly use right? |

Raid 0 = Data Stripping
Raid 1 = Data Mirror Raid 10 = Data Mirror + Stripping. Am I correct so far? RAID 0 is a risk as if any 1 drive fails, your data will be gone forever, though it gives the most space RAID 1 is the best in terms of data integrity, though you are only getting half of the total space available. RAID 10 is the best of those 2. So I should go for RAID 10? |
