since you're soooooo good at connections..why not you help book us for supplies of said phones? knowing prices aren't that much of a use but help forumers get the phones are ten times more useful.

Please and thanks! tongue.gif

sorry if this question has been repeated before. Does anyone know the warranty period that LG gives for their phones? if its two years i would think that N4 will be a good buy at RM1.8k...but...nowadays how can a phone last 1+ years without being technologically impaired by newer phone techs... that being said, the question i pose to to the floor is: would anyone still buy the malaysian set at 2 years warranty given that it is priced at RM1.8k? or will you get the out-of-country set as phones don't even last 1+ years and don't give a damn about the warranty. thx happy.gif

thanks for the reply. i'm assuming that those who don't care about warranty would not mind the fact that the phone might have problems half a year down the road and will just change phones? I'm a different sort of user whereby my 1st phone, nokia 6610, lasted about 4 years and my current SE k810i(barely surviving), 5 years. So i really hope that i could keep phones til at least 2+ years given that the industry don't make 8cores a hype by the end of 2013. do you guys think that N4 is worth the keeping? or by looking at trends right now, it won't even last half a year(i'm hoping 4cores to be the norm for quite a while. the only upgrading part will be graphics and screen techs)

Frankly, I don't mind paying 1.8k for a local set if LG Malaysia does not honor warranty for international ones.  Just that I want certainty of getting one and the only way is if you can manage the situation yourself.  I am equally glad that LG is bringing it in, at least we can bring it in for parts etc.  looks like the biggest complaints of n4 is the crackling speakers when volume is turned too high, plus a couple of handsets displaying washed out colors

need to add that the back glass does crack easily(go search for reviews from prominent tech reviewers).

it is a worrying factor when one considers to buy N4.. sad.gif

Mr. Pang very kesian...we all know what is he talking about (at least i am) and he's not taking sides...but the guys in the comments are just relentless and just blatantly accused him of being paid by lg to write lowyat posts.... cry.gif

i think we are all hyped up by the availability of the phone then to seriously discuss the tech behind the phone and what the N4 is all about..*drumroll*..its a developer phone, or at least it is a normal user friendlier for someone to tweak around the phone.

my question to those who has their respective N4:
1. have you guys rooted it?
2. has anyone tried google wallet on it to purchase stuff in shops with nfc support?

thx~ happy.gif

Before you ask that, please may I ask you to provide shops that has Mastercard Paypass terminal, that are actually in working condition?

Even GSC's ones are for display only.  sweat.gif

thanks for the clearup. I have no idea where in malaysia can we utilise this feature other than sharing files between nfc enabled phones. Sorry for the "mess-up". blush.gif

also, i assumed that not a single unit from users here has the rumoured purple-ish hew that was brought up about a month ago right?

1. rooted or not , if you no utilize or use rooted apps , i see no reason why you should root , but the rules of using nexus phone is the first thing u got on hand is , unlock the bootloader! laugh.gif
2.i m not sure whether wallet are supported here , i bet not , i still got my free 10usd acc since last year when activate the google wallet.  sweat.gif

question, would those "wave" machine(maybank issued) at counters work with the nfc? has anyone tried it?

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Dec 29 2012, 09:50 AM)
Well, is so cool to have Nexus 4, but question here, is it really necessarily to root the phone anyway?
Since I'm just a casual user, only look forward for the pure Android OS feel, I only makes call/text and some internet on the go.

My sister using Note 2, her husband using iPhone 5, then feel like going differently after trying their phone.
Currently still using Nokia 5800 and still working fine but laggy sweat.gif
Oh man, I was like from foot walking(Symbian) and then jump into driving Ferrari(JellyBean 4.2) lol laugh.gif

i was thinking because the Nexus series was made not because of normal users but more for developers. anyhow, definitely anyone can buy it and use it normally without rooting or don't find the need to have root apps, rom flashing, kernel flashing, etc but won't it be fun that a newcomer to the nexus series play around and enjoy the benefits of having a developer-worthy phone? as how i see it, it will a good phone for both newcomer and current android users to further enhance their knowledge of how android works and familiarise with whats going on in the developer world. Basically, it ensures that by having a nexus and playing around with it, one can be part of the on going development and in some ways contribute to the developer community by giving feedbacks or just plain testing newly released stable roms.
OR, maybe i'm just saying all these as i felt that geeky part of me wanted to be more into development than average ppl. tongue.gif

The problem I noticed so far is the buzzing sound on the ear-speaker (not sure if I address it correctly). So far the battery performance is quite okay with me. Lasted 6 hours + with 3G and playing Ingress the whole day outside. On screen lasted about 2 hours + , near to 3 hours.

I have read in some reviews that they too have heard of buzzing noises from the ear-speaker...hope its not hardware prob sad.gif

thumbs up for Doomsday and Kuntakinte for the feedbacks we hoped to have more plus perks you guys enjoy and not much downsides to the phones. next trivial, has anyone broke their V card? (root) tongue.gif

another trivial, has any owners got annoyed by the 3 touch keys at the bottom when using apps?(accidentally touched one of them while playing games. etc). do we actually have to live with it and get ourself familiar with the phone and in good time won't develop the habbit of touching them while working on the phone? also, is there any apps(rooted, non-rooted) that hides those 3 touch buttons and users can bring them back up when in need?

regards screen sensitiveness. It has to do with the construction of the screen. by right it should not be that responsive with previous GNex because they have merged the layers( touch sensitive and pixel screens) together to make the phones thinner. this feature is on the iphone5 too. i can't remember where i read/view the review but it is stated. will report back with link when i manage to find that piece of info.

now i'm wondering whether rm200 rebate can be used with n4 or not. lol
*
QUOTE(irenic @ Jan 3 2013, 11:10 AM)
U know how the rm200 rebate works?
*
currently i've went to the mcmc website and the portal is down for some reason(upgrading new T&C maybe?) but our very own lowyat editor Chapree did made an Article regarding this. Please do scroll until you see a picture showing step by step instructions. For what i know, those who are already working(employed) needed to key in their EPF number during registration.

coming back to thread topic. Those who have the N4, there were some owers back a few pages said that the heat coming out from the back of the phone(upper center) was significant until it gets uncomfortable. Mind reporting back any issues after prolonged usage under those circumstances? (playing games, stuff you did on the phone that requires high performances/performance usage). hmm.gif

i thought the maximum RM500 thingy had been scrapped? they released new memo today saying that it's eligible for any phone?  blink.gif

ermm...i won't say scrapped yet coz it was just from a tweet from YB yatim. but potentially yes, it will be scrapped and RM200 rebate will be incurred on every other phone(note, POTENTIALLY) unsure.gif
