Holy molly.. So many Hobbit sets.  rclxub.gif I am seriously curious how much it cost you to buy and ship these sets all the way here from Germany. I wonder if it will actually be CHEAPER than waiting for our local distro and LLM to bring them all here. Really tempted to try out bricklink....  whistling.gif
Definitely still works out cheaper than local retail by about 40-45%, even after factoring shipping and taxes.
Dont think I've bought anything locally for quite some time.

The estimated RRP for Hobbits once it hits our shores would be about RM 399 for Unexpected Gathering, RM 499 for Goblin Battle. Not buying those prices here..

Hi sherwin, how many percent will our custom tax for toys? Also was thinking on whether wanna get technic set (unimog) from brick link. Doesn't differ much if it's taxed. Can get locally for 700+

Other AFOLs, any other alternative for technics?
*
10% tax for toys if the merchandise + shipping exceeds RM500.

QUOTE(leonhang @ Dec 6 2012, 11:21 PM)

@sherwin What online stores did you buy from, mind sharing ?

*
Mainly BrickLink, in particular sellers from Europe as you get savings from the VAT reduction and reasonable shipping rates.

Some other merchants which ship direct are Barnes & Noble - bn.com, US$12.95 for first item, 4.95 for subsequent item. BN takes longer to arrive, 4-6 weeks and box condition isnt guaranteed. The larger sets arent too bad but it must be listed as From BN.com and not the third party sellers.

TheHut.com - a UK site also ships Lego directly, for only 0.99p and takes ages to arrive.

Amazon.com occasionally ships some sets directly, but this one is really main tikam. On one day a set may ship internationally, the next it may not. Some that will ship now are Helms Deep, Super Star Destroyer, Imperial Shuttle & Death Star. Must be listed as "Ships and sold by Amazon.com" and not third party sellers.

my huge box that just arrived yesterday didn't get taxed  whistling.gif
I guess it really depends on luck, as few forumers here have said that sometimes they kena and sometimes won't.

Not wanting to pay more than RM5k+ for a sealed Cafe Corner.. my idea of Bricklinking one went from its impossible to this could work. 4 months later, here it is after 7 orders, and RM700+ poorer. Still missing a few 1x1 tiles and window panes for the 3rd floor.

Substituted some of the rare expensive pieces:

-Dark blue arch to grey arch
-Dark blue bricks to normal blue bricks
-Light blue grey door (Going for almost RM75+) to a red RM1 door
-2x4x3 Window frames hollow studs to solid studs

The more expensive pieces were the dark blue pillars, grey & tan arches, grey frogs & parrots and the dark red slopes.

Also changed the 2nd floor windows, used 1x3x2 window frames in place of the 1x3x2 panels at the expense of structural integrity

Does anyone here have experience with this seller call PLAYEXPERT.nl from Holland on brick link? I'm thinking of buying a set from him but he seems to be responding to email quite slow but so far his price is the lowest for the set that I wanted

Ordered twice from this store, stuff came in two weeks without any issues.

Hi all,

Just wondering does lego.com or toysrus.com ship to forwarders like hopshopgo, comgetaway, vpost n etc??
Thanks
*
Lego.com no longer ships to 3rd party forwarders. Toysrus.com, they tend to pack items in oversized boxes which would kill the deal entirely once the volumetric weight is calculated. Hopshopgo does have a repacking option which may help reduce charges by reboxing. TRU.com has occasionally BOGO 25%/50% off but check the RRP first as TRU.com is known to mark up prices when there is a sale.
