Congrats on Version 5 of our thread. Many many things have happened since V4 such as Legoland open here and the Shell Lego Ferraris. Looking forward to what might happen next haha. thumbup.gif

The Ninjago quartet welcomes the 5th iteration of our thread!

I got all the Lego Ferraris already. I think I can now stop buying otherwise I will end up with too many multiples. Not planning to buy the display case since I do not have space to display the cars among all my other Lego sweat.gif

Oh, some seriously old school Lego which I used to play long long time ago. I still have it in good condition and all it needs is a wash and can play already!

Some photos of my Lego Shell sets. I still prefer the Classic Town versions due to its printed parts. Shell tanker, truck and F1 car.

The latest Shell Lego Ferraris mod to seat 1 minifigure. Due to the minifigs height all have to be open top. But it hardly ever rains in Legoland. If you noticed, I never stick the stickers on the Ferraris.

Also recently bought the new ambulance thanks to the Jusco promotion. The new one is better and larger than the old one. My only complaint is again, STICKERS!!@! vmad.gif

Holy molly.. So many Hobbit sets. rclxub.gif I am seriously curious how much it cost you to buy and ship these sets all the way here from Germany. I wonder if it will actually be CHEAPER than waiting for our local distro and LLM to bring them all here. Really tempted to try out bricklink.... whistling.gif

I too noticed the sudden surge in the number of posts in this thread. It is as if all the Lego fans started coming out from their Lego vaults to post.

Anyway, some Lego Shell pictures. The new Shell Lego sets have some interesting pieces to modify my old Town sets.

Even old town sets would LOVE to try out V-power

From the mid 80s? No problem!

The original Shell F1 racer is no match for the new Shell Ferrari F1 racer. Printed parts is a million times better than stickers.

so..from what i read.. so this ALJ company is selling 30-40% higher than LEGO in the USA price?
*
Well, comparing the price for the big sets like the police station on Lego Shop At home US website, you can see that:
1) City police station - US 99.99. Local price RM 549.90
2) Dino Defence HQ - US 99.99. Local price RM 549.90
3) Jabba's Palace - US 119.99.Local price RM 800+
4) The Malevolence - US 119.99. Local price RM 600+
.. did I mentioned got FREE DELIVERY, FREE CHRISTMAS SET too?

The biggest rip-off is the Jabba's Palace IMHO. On Lego Shop at home it is THE SAME PRICE as the Malevolance! sweat.gif

Luckily I do not buy Star Wars otherwise it is really an expensive hobby.

I saw a few collectors here managed to snag some modular buildings. Once you are bitten by the modular building bug, there is no turning back! sweat.gif

First you will start to get the past modular, then will try to bricklink the cafe corner, later will MOC your own modular.

Most importantly, you need a lot of space to store them fully built! But when you line them up in a row laugh.gif

Digged out some of my old Lego sets back in the 80s.
The red box Lego Basic set cost only RM49.95 back in those days.
And I'm happy to have a couple of base plates found.
I recall to have lots more but I guess they are gone.... sad.gif

Anyone recall Equatron being the distributor for Lego?

I also have the same red color and blue color box sweat.gif Managed to snag both from a 1 lot classic Lego set from a parent who was selling their daughter's Lego.

I do agree Lego is expensive, I mean look at the difference in price from last time! blink.gif

I have some Lego sets whee the box has East Asiatic Co S/B. Must be a really old distributor last time.

let me try to restructure my question..... noob here

how do you all usually store your bricks?
Currently using those disposable rectangular plastic containers to store my Lego after I separate all the Lego bricks. It is the cheapest option I know and also since it is transparent I can easily see the contents of the bricks.

Rather spend money on real bricks rather than the overpriced storage boxes.

I really wish I can come across a SUPER DOOPER BIG discount like the one I stumbled upon last time in New Zealand cry.gif Somemore it is a hot set and not some shelf warmer.

wow... their one TRU only, has lot more LEGO than all the TRU malaysia outlets combined.

Being a Lego collector in Asia sure is challenging...sigh.,.
*
Yalah, I saw the photo sooooo sooooo verryyy verrryyyy jellyyy cry.gif I wish to add, holy crap the TRU there is as big as a hypermarket here shocking.gif Lego already occupy such a big space.

Last week quite fed-up of the Lego stock in Malaysia until I posted this long rant on the Lego Facebook page. Surprisingly Lego did reply, although I do not know if it is a generic reply, but atleast I know the message did go to Denmark. Link here: https://www.facebook.com/LEGOGROUP/posts/10...95¬if_t=like

So see next year if things improved or not. I really hope things do improve because I saw:-
1) TRU Empire had other brands on the Lego shelf
2) TRU Ikano had Kre-O and Knex on the Lego shelf
3) Parkson Subang Parade relocated the Lego stuff to another shelf and the original shelf is now filled with Mega blocks Hello kitty and another type of toy. Atleast they remove the Lego branding and yellow color so as not to confuse customers.

Till then, currently looking for any source for the Chima Thundertank and Ninjago Golden Dragon. Really really tempted to buy stuff off bricklink on my own sweat.gif

Wanna ask is it Brickbastion trustable?

Have been their customer for a long time already. The majority of my large sets like modular buildings, technic flagship is from them. Usually will COD from them in the Cheras area.

Their stock is dependant on the local distributor though, so some items might not be available.

Happy New Year!

Few months and 3 modulars and 3 trains where 2 of them are the old 9V electric powered type with the tracks?!?!@ sweat.gif WOW. Those old 9V trains are hard to find unless you go to Bricklink.

My modular row featuring the latest addition; Vet corner.
user posted image

Built using parts from Olivia's House, Heartlake Vet, parts from Legoland Malaysia and extra bricks which I have, this corner lot features a fully built up vet on the Ground floor and a 2 bedroom apartment on the 1st and 2nd floor. As a bonus, there is a rooftop garden for the occupants of the apartment. This corner modular has been on my mind for a long time already, so since I had a long holidays why not build this modular? Bigger than expected when I finally completed it. Would not have been built if not for the parts from Pick A Brick in Legoland Johor (where I bought almost 300grams of tan 1x4 bricks and many many lime green, red and yellow tiles).

LOL! The Modulars do hurt my wallet a lot cry.gif , but since it's Christmas and year end, so consider purchasing them for self satisfaction and being an AFOL, why not.

Actually 3 trains, 2 of them are pretty old, about 10-15 years, Metroliner (the grey KTM-likeness) and Load & Haul Railroad (small red locomotive + cargo) running on the original 9V tracks.
Planning to slowly expand the build  icon_idea.gif
Yea, was digging up my old LEGO sets and those 9V trains just brings back so much fond memories^^ Back in those days my dad went hunting around for those tracks to build huge track layout, really thank him for that smile.gif To me 9V train systems still rock. PF is cool, but using battery is a pain, IMHO.
*
The old 9V trains are still the best, no need to rely on batteries. Too bad the cost to make the 9V tracks are too expensive for Lego to make them anymore.

I have the old mid 80s airport and late 80s Shell petrol station. Really grateful that my parents bought them for me.

The Metroliner set. Only the sets from that late 80s to early 90s era had that torso. Some of my Classic Town sets have that torso as well. Link: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4558-1

wow. really? in Legoland Johor we can buy whatever loose brick we want? Is it cheaper comparing ordering bulk from Bricklink?

Do they have the specialty bricks too? like those bricks with slope, inverted slope etc. Really need those for my "ruined building" diorama
*
The variety depends on the bricks and parts available. The price is RM 35 for every 100gram, so if you are buying plates or tiles then it is worth it. Not so if you are buying the actual bricks like the Tan 1x4 brick. I didn't see much slope or inverted slope pieces unless they have changed the bricks lineup.

I also have this set, missing a few key pieces but able to build it again. So that's where my minifig came from.

oh thanks for correcting. but still <100 parts though. I dont see the appeal of the bikes (just one plastic + wheel).

It remind me of last year Dino sets. One big plastic Trex + 480 pcs = rm3xx  (70 sen per piece?)  . If I want to play with dinos.. I can buy cheap rubber ones from other brands ... tongue.gif

Last time the Ninjago carded sets with 1 minifig, the spinner and stuff is also very expensive, so stuff like these always have terrible price to piece ratio. The single speedroz is RM 69, not sure if it is expensive or not.

But I did bought the Thundertank aka Laval's Royal Fighter just now. I got the Brickboy card so it was RM 179. First time I used the card in YEARS. shocking.gif

I have seen people Bricklinking a Cafe Corner, UCS MF etc but this is the first time I saw someone Bricklinking a Tumbler! I really admire the hard work you put into searching for the parts for this set.

RRP 70003 is RM154.90, parkson give 10% to bonuslink members so the final paying price quite close to US price of USD34.99, so thank you to ALJ for being fair??  laugh.gif
*
I went and bought this eagle jet from Brickboy yesterday and the croc speedroz blister pack. The croc blister pack is more to see what is the Speedroz all about. For the price of RM 154 you get 3 minifigs with full printing and dual print heads plus headgear, an eagle jet that looks good and have printed parts AND the bad guy gets a little vehicle to attack with. And RM 154 if you are paying the RRP, since I got Brickboy card so it was 10% off which makes it even more attractive.

I only came to know how value for money this set is after I bought the Thundertank aka Laval's Royal Fighter and comparing the RM and sets on brickset. The review on Bricksetr is enough poison to make me go to Brickboy again and buy the set.

The prices for Chima for is very much cheaper than the Ninjago sets which I bought last time. If I am not wrong the Thundertank had a RM to piece ratio of 45 cents per part compared to 60+ cents for a Ninjago set. Unfortunately the huge Croc command ship has a high RM/part ratio, most probably due to the HUGE boat hull piece.

Today I walked past Brickboy and all the eagle jets are gone! shocking.gif But I did see some of them in Isetan Gardens with discount sticker yesterday.

Hope ALJ keep this kind of reasonable pricing and not get too greedy and increase the mark up again. FYI this is the first time since 2009 I use my Brickboy card, since the RRP is so screwed up the discount offered by Brickboy makes buying at retail too expensive.

My current Chima line-up. So far I have bought the good guys which is the eagle jet and the lion tank. Still considering to get the wolf 4X4 and other sets. The speedroz is to see what it is about.
user posted image

The eagle jet with its printed feet. It is a using the new inverted tiles which I have never seen before.
user posted image

The "bad guys" line-up. Can't really put up much of a fight against the eagle nor the lions yet unless I buy some of the baddie vehicle sets.
user posted image

Crominus with his ride. Basically it is a vehicle with 1 giant metal wheel at the front powered by a rip chord. I took the croc because it has a golden weapon and I prefer the Crocs laugh.gif
user posted image

Some cards that came with the Speedroz pack. The artwork is top notch.
user posted image

So... is this theme worth getting more? The only set I see worth getting next is the eagle tank and maybe the wolf 4x4. Other than that still looking for the golden dragon sweat.gif
