I think most usually started with sets, collect rolleyes.gif , then mix a bit laugh.gif , then become too messy sweat.gif and then start construct own set tongue.gif

Plan to go TRU MV this saturday, hope SW Advent still ada stock.

sets are tempting as nothing beats the feeling of opening new set and follow the instructions to build (feeling-like-a-child moment). But due to budget constraint.. I only aimed for sets with sleek-looking models with many angled connections coz thats where most special parts are offered inside like Ninjago. (so seeing blocky city vehicles and buildings doesnt appeal to me).

When Im in the mood for a new MOC, I turn the living room into warzone with parts scattered under sofa / on the carpet.

Play on table or bed la, anywhere cleans. Hehe.

Prefer set lo, MOC took a lot of time, unless you are so damn free and have nothing to do, then MOC lo. Hehe. Hardly I joined up the parts from different sets, unless those are extras after I sold off all the minifigs.
Before this I MOC using only the parts from the set itself, quite challenging.

Yep. Technic sets are fun in the sense of physics, engineering, gears/pneumatics(hydraulics)/electric motor/sensors/etc.

Yes, technics works hand in hand with lego. In fact, even better. But it doesn't look nice, as most blocks/sticks have lots of holes in it for connectivity.
Standard Lego don't have that much holes.

Yes, NXT/Mindstorm is actually add-on of technics. All the parts will work together.

I have mindstorm v1.5 (2 versions before NXT). It is quite fun to program it and build your own stuff.
Then, get those additional sensors/accessories, to build whatever you want.

Mix with technic sets, you can build bigger things.

But it is quite a costly set.

Currently, I'm looking at those big set of technics.
