Hai, I have an ASUS A53S model which I've only bought for 11 days before this problem occured.

At first my laptop was slow-working (eg. when I listen to music it always get stuck over and over again). After I shut it down and tried to reboot it again the next time, the screen goes into "Windows boot manager"and fails to go into windows.

This happened 2 days after I installed Microsoft office 2007 at my school IT office. Can this be the source of the problem?

The ASUS recovery disc did not work. I have done the recovery process and the dialogue said "Recovery successful" but it still goes into "Window's boot manager".

The "Windows boot manager"stated that:

File: \Boot\BCD error
Status: 0x000000e
Info: An error occured while trying to read the boot configuration data

Sometimes it also stated that:

File: \Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Status: 0x00000e9
Info: Windows failed to load because the kernel is missing, or corrupt

Can someone help me? I'm really sad because I've only bought this for 11 days for goodness sake! I know that it's best to send it to the center, but I'm in Kelantan now and the technician said that the ASUS center is at Lowyat.

My laptop is running:
-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
-intel core i5 processor, 2450M, 2.5GHz
-memory 4GB
-HDD 750GB

Maybe you should bring it back to Asus if you're not able to solve it, its only 11 days old should be under warranty

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not able to go to the center at the moment because my current location doesn't have an ASUS center at which I can use my warranty.

I'll try googling it.

Hi,

I would suggest you perform the format if you can't boot into safe mode as well, this is the second last choice before you choose to send it to lowyat.

Correct?

Does formatting meant using the AI recovery discs? If so I've tried that to no avail.

It seems the last option is to send it to the center.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks guys for the advice. I've already booked a flight back to KL. I hope the warranty is not voided.
