Ninetology Black Pearl II Review

I got this phone for 5 days and i think a review would be appropriate to explain how this phone would perform based on my experience as a consumer.

Body
The design is quite sleek. One look at it would tell you that its a HTC but its not. It is quite heavy but not too heavy. Enough to tell you its presence in your pocket. The three touch sensitive button on the bottom (menu, home, back) is OK but there's some instances where it would not respond at all. Maybe i've been typing too fast. Overall, its a 3 stars. For the body.

Hardware
A dual-core 1Ghz does quite a good job. Not too much lag. I switched to the stock homescreen rather than using Go Launcher. Everything works fine. The only lag i suffer is from using FB. Thats all. It crashed twice. Tried modern warfare and it plays along just nice. I award the hardware 3 stars as well.

Battery
The nightmare. One time, i just let the phone rest on the table for a day and guess what? It loses about 70% of its juice doing nothing. 3G was off and no one have been using it. Maybe ghost? I dont know. I also used it for a day and yes. The juices are not long lasting enough. If you're a frequent or extreme user, consider getting a power bank or something. 2 star is enough la.

GPS
Super difficult to get signal. I have to get to the open field to get the signal. If you're on the moving vehicle, dont expect it to be accurate. Even the range in Foursquare is super large. Maybe its jus my area but thats my experience with BP2. 1 star for GPS.

Sound
Buzzing. Yes. Quite a lot. Played my music and it seems like i'm listening it to the radio. Calls are ok. Quite smooth and clear. 3 star for sound.

Display
Imagine Galaxy S II display. This is not the same. Only resolution and the size. Under direct sunlight, u will see nothing. Definitely nothing at all. No superAMOLED for this guy. But its quite responsive. Definitely a good job. Except under the sun where I couldn't even tell who's calling me. 3 stars.

Camera
It says 5mp. But its actually 8mp. The quality is not ok but acceptable. Focusing is dead slow. Tried to candid my cat sleeping upside down but focusing is too slow my cat is already awake! Damn. They should put a SIlentWavemotor inside the lens like Nikon lenses so it would focus faster. Just kidding. The shots are ok outside. But indoor, it failed too much even with the help of the flash. 2 stars.

Price
599. So cheap. If samsung sells phones like S II or Note at a price like this, maybe everyone will have a smartphone. I give it 5 star! Hahahaha!

Overall
The phone had been good to me (not great). Enough to fulfill its duty of receiving calls, updating my status, tweets, watsapp and also a few games. I had Galaxy S II before but i ended up giving it to my mum. I couldn't compare it to the S II because i pity this little guy. It will lose.

Thats my review on the new Ninetology Black Pearl II.

Is there anyone who has tried to install AES Detector or AES Location Detector on your BP2?
Which one is better and accurate?
Must have internet connection or just simply on the GPS button?

Bought mine at Motorola Concept Store in Sunway Pyramid last saturday.
There is a notice on the shop stating 'PKB ada di sini'.
Gave my confirmation slip and photostat I.C. and the RM299 of course.
Quite good service from the seller actually. Hassle free.
He told me still got stock. Anybody wanna buy can try there.
Located at the highest floor beside the HTC store.

Ok, about the phone. So far, everything o.k. Quite smooth actually. Connected to my unifi at home. Not much loading time for web browsing.
The interface is lag free too. As i am using it as a second phone, with one 1 SIM active, connected to my house wifi, and moderate usage, the battery fully charge from 10a.m. will last just enough till 7-8p.m.
So, yes the battery drain is quite bad.

I bought a powerbank to overcome the battery drain issue, so i really satisfied with this phone especially considering the price.

No, what he mean is, he charge the phone at 10 am, and need to charge back at 7pm or 8pm on the same day.

I was quite upset with Ninetology's M warranty and their services. I think the M warranty is kind of misleading. Correct me if I am wrong.

Bought 2 Ninetology Black Pearl 2 from BK communication last Monday. One of it is fine but the other was unable to make the first call for sim card activation as there was no signal. Contacted S.Kembangan service centre and one of the guy (Mr. A) ask me to take photo of the problem and Whatsapp him the picture. Once he saw the picture, he asked me to send it to the service centre for M warranty claim.

So I sent it on that day itself (it was Friday). Mr A took out the battery and the back cover of the handset and took away only the body of the handset. I asked for 1 to 1 exchange, but he said HQ need to check the phone first before proceed with the exchange, so I agreed. He promised will give me an update on the status of my phone on Monday.

So Monday came and I called Mr A's number around 11am. He said it was still early and asked me to wait for 1 hour while he contact HQ for update on my phone. He promised will call me back around afternoon. Waited until around 3.30pm, I called his number again but no one pickup. Frustrated, I called S.Kembangan's service centre at around 4.30pm to ask for an update.

Mr B picked up my phone. After explaining my situation to him and asked him about my M warranty exchange, he said Mr A just passed the phone to him without telling him that its a new phone and the situation. So Mr B asked me to wait for 15 mins so that he can call HQ to check my phone's status and he will call me back.

After 15 mins, he called me back saying HQ confirmed the defect in the phone and I can get a new replacement. He said I can come tomorrow for pickup but I insisted on today, and he agreed. He said he is leaving the office early but will pass the phone and message to his colleage, Mr C to handle.

I went to the service centre and met Mr C. He told me I cannot get replacement now as the new unit must be issued by HQ itself, cannot take from the stock they have currently. I said, but Mr B already agreed, so he called Mr B and they had some chats.

Mr C passed the phone that they currently having chat with to me and Mr B suddenly tell me, they can't give me replacement because the phone is not theirs. I was confused and furious. Mr C further explain to me, if I bought the phone from the S.Kembangan area, they can straight away replace new one for me, but mine is from Summit so it is handled by another service centre and therefore they can't exchange now.

I was upset that the miscommunication between the staff there caused me to travel to the service centre for nothing. Mr C kept apologizing and promised that their HQ will give me new unit so I accept with a heavy heart. Then I passed the old box plus the accessories back to Mr C, thinking that the new unit comes with a complete set but Mr C asked me to keep the old box, saying that the 1 to 1 exchange only exchange the body of the handset.

I asked him to clarify on the M warranty, differences between the 7 days and 90 days since both are 1 to 1 exchange. He explains, if 7 days, exchange the whole body of the handset (exclude battery and back cover) meanwhile for the 90 days warranty, they will only exchange the board of the set but retain the old casing of the phone.

This is totally different from what I understand from their advertisement. I think their claim is misleading and they should further clarify it to prevent confusion.

So I went back empty handed yesterday, still waiting for my new set T_T
Sigh..
