Besides Harry Potter, you can just walk into any second hand book store and pick up a book that you like.

Reading your fav. magazine will be great too smile.gif

i recommend Harry Potter because of the language, it is ideal for beginners

So i've been hearing about this british council, question is has anyone been there, they say that upon entering they will give you a test to determine which class that you go to, so if you score relatively high they'd put you in an uber english class which is awesome for improvement. Did you guys know that as we grow our language deteriorates.

Yes, they do.

If you want to improve your English conversation skill, then you need to start converse with your friends using it. Watch more English news ...

CNN or BBC would be good.

For beginner, they should start with something local first. As CCN and BBC will have reporters which their accent is different from us.

Our local news stations?

to tell you the truth, it shouldn't be the place to learn english.......

Accent is not a problem, what we want is correct and concise english.

ehm, what is ur suggestion other than british council? Got any english course that is cheap and its certificate is approval from LAN?

Then any tuition centre will do, but don't make a fuss if the standard is lousy.
The standards would be guaranteed at British council.

you don't need LAN approval......what's with everyone and LAN?
