sorry if this has been asked before. i just got my new macbook yesterday which i bought online from the apple store. i think the airport card is defective. as soon as i move beyond 5 meters of my wifi router i get disconnected from the internet. safari says that i am not connected to the internet. if i move within the 5 meter radius i get the connection again. before u say that it is a problem with my router, my 4 year old ibook has got no problems picking up the signal even if i move downstairs!

my real question is this- is it ok for me to bring it to any authorised apple retailer for check and repair if needed?

definitely go to a Authorised Service Center...
here's the list > Apple Asia Service Centres

some are just Drop Points, that means you can send in your Mac there & pick it up there later when its done, but repairs will probably be done somewhere else.
