If you don't want to root/use custom rom.Try to change SMS Setting input mode to GSM alphabet & mms setting change to "warning".But if you want to send any mms later,change it back to default setting.as i mentioned in previous reply b4, i m new to android and currently owing note 2 as well and very happy with it..

P/s: sometime i'd type long msg & receiver didn't retrieve that msg on non-smartphone.
