seems to work, as described
maps load faster, stock fb loads and feels snapier chrome opens faster (but not much diff cuz internet slow)
other than that swiping still not significant diffrence and redrawing from app drawer seems same.
using stock nav bar and not LMT for testing
no lag when used with pgm to unlock on off.

looks like itz worth using

running 4.1 aokp 2+ month old rom, with latest 4.6 lean exp1 for 4.1

u could be right on the halving the animations, cuz other than the stuff like maps and facebook opening, itz very negligible and hard to tell the difference

i cannnot say for batt life cuz i change the kernal to newer one

y i say u nid custom rom, cuz itz deodex mean theaming is allowed
hence aokp 4.2.1 is ok

next is u nid a cuztom launcher, like apex or nova in the settings u can remove landscape or portrait search bar
or u can hold and move it away like any widgets

right now i think u are using threbucket (like stock launcher) thats y cannot.
