if you can find one with good price, you can go for it. Change the absorber to those good quality ones after you buy. I have changed mine to better quality absorber and the ride is much better.

I forgot what kind of absorber I changed. I am not really car enthusiast. I went to this shop in kepong. Found the contact from online. This guy used to post a lot in this forum selling car parts but nowadays he is less active probably due to business is good. His nick is zendengohzendengoh. The absorber I changes is mid range only. I didn't want to invest too much into cars. I could have changed to better absorber and spring. Then ride would be sweet. But I ops for mid-range solution. Price/performance.

The car itself is okay. I have changes some engine parts...some five ring or something..I forgot the exact name. You know lah..those Ah beng shops and their pronunciation is really off. Also replaced the alternator before. My car is already 7 years old and still okay. If it's proton, I am sure it is already time to change. I owned proton before, so I would know. Sure, it's not great car...it used to be top cheapest SUV where it was once a popular stolen car. Since then a lot of other brands already came out with better offer. However, toyota is known for their reliability. It is not perfect (some parts replaced) but it is a good combination of price, fc (1.3liter only) and service. I can't say the same for p1 or p2. At least for me, I send all my services to Toyota. They will check everything nicely and tell me what's wrong. When parts need to be changed, I do it in Ah beng shop with ori parts. Save me tons. It's a family car and suv/mpv. Definitely not for people who want powerful ride.

Avanza really can feels the car as bumpy ride all the road. TS you might be reconsider others car.

What I saw and feel sad to the owner.

just change the absorber will solve this problem. No need to feel sorry. Most typical drivers doesn't know or care about this as driver's side doesn't feel this. This is considered minor problem compared to getting a car with gearbox problem or engine not reliable after 5 years and so on. Look at that kangoo..7k for parts not even the original.

I also see old wira/waja when cross bump bounce like crazy. Then again, some changed their absorber to super powderful where they can pass speed bumps at high speed also no problem. So I should feel sorry for the bump for being abused?

What? 7k for parts? Where? Only the catalytic converter is that expensive, and that is an original part. Aftermarket or from SG I would probably have gotten a much better price. I don't think I spent 7k for parts in 3 years... probably more like 2k or so. Wear and tear lah. I think gearbox they told me was like 3 or 4k... I don't think you'd spend less on other brands.

No problems with engine reliability or the gearbox, and the car is 8 years old now. Why can't the bloody gearbox die?!

oh..ok ok..you just quoting the prices. As long as car reliable then it should be fine. Doesn't matter it's what brand.

and I agree..there are a lot of other better brand than avanza in the market now. Especially for secondhand cars...it really depend a lot on how the owner take care of the car.

hand brake button broken? no worries, plenty of bricks lying around on the road to stop your beloved avancai from rolling away  laugh.gif

LOL...my avanza's handbrake button also broken. But that is due to my own fault. When I take my bag from left passenger seat, I accidently hit my bag on the button. So the button broke. Luckily not the whole button is broken. I still can use the handbroke without problem.
