QUOTE(lokgotz @ Mar 12 2013, 12:26 AM) Mind telling which model are you looking for? It actually boils down to which model you are looking for. woah very detail! marked downG-Factory (all outlets) basically sell the really basic, or slightly special models. If you are looking for something more special/rare, don't waste your time there. Basically it's like this - G-Factory Pros: - Confirm 100% original. - Confirm retail price. - Local warranty. Anything wrong with your watch, just send it back to any G-Factory or even Marco Corporation, the distibutor. - The box is the actual box for the watch. G-Factory keeps the hang tag for their records though. Cons: - Only basic models. Special models (like the 30th anniversary ones) will only be sold at a raffle system. Don't even expect them to have the slightly special/rare ones. Watch shops other than G-Factory Pros: - They carry some special/rare models. - Price negotiable. Cons: - Elevated prices. Even if they give you up to 40% discounts, sometimes, it is still more expensive than retail. - Their stocks come from various sources. Sometimes from the official distributor (Marco), sometimes parallel imports. - Warranty wise, send it back to them and they'll try to fix it themselves (I've seen it before). - Watch wise, you will most probably get a different box from the original one. They mix up all their boxes. Online Sellers like the ones in Lowyat Forums, Mudah, Lelong, eBay Pros: - They will have any model you want, even the super rare ones. You name it, they'll have it - Boxes, hang tags, sometimes even the protective plastic is still intact. Cons: - The usual online trading risks. - Elevated prices, especially for limited/special/rare models. - Authenticity not guaranteed. I've not encountered this but you have the risk of getting a non-original one. - It might not be new, but labelled as new. Sometimes, there are exceptions too. If you are buying a basic model, online shops will be cheaper than G-Factory. If you are buying the slightly rare/special models, G-Factory will be cheaper, provided they have stocks. Personally, I buy from eBay, Project Hullabaloo and some online sellers here. I don't mind paying more for the ones I want. I don't care about warranty either. For brick and mortar stores, if they have the models I want, they get my business. Simple as that. I hope that helps. |

QUOTE(lokgotz @ May 17 2013, 05:30 PM) Oh. The crown you mean? wow this is superb!I assume the GAC-100 series' crown works just like any other analogue watches. 1. You will be able to pull the crown out 2 levels. There should be a distinct "click" when you reach each level. 2. Pulling it to the max (2 levels) will let you adjust the time. 3. Pulling it one level will let you adjust the date. I personally have a set of rules for setting the time on an analogue watch. I have plenty of mechanical watches as well, which is why I always follow this set of rules for analogue watches. - Never set the date when the clock is at 9pm to 3am. That's when the date dial changes. Setting the date when it's at 9pm to 3am will force the dial to move unnaturally, causing the gears to wear/break if done too many times. - Always turn the crown so that the minute hand goes clockwise. Watches/clocks are meant to go only one way. Turning the crown to make the dial go anti-clockwise might break the gears in it. If I accidentally set the time 1 minute faster, I'll go two full rotations (two 12 hour rotations) to get the time right. - Always screw the crown in. It prevents moisture getting into the watches. I have more rules for GMT, moon phase, annual calendar, regulators and other type of watches. Yeah I'm quite OCD like that when it comes to watches. |
