Hey guys I'm interested in upgrading my old rig so that i can play recently released games at possibly the highest settings with a stable FPS.

Budget: <RM2500

Purpose: Gaming

Hardware that will be reuse from old rig: ~500W PSU, Monitor, 8GB DDR3RAM, Harddrive, Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers.

Location: Subang Jaya

Essentially, I need a recommendation on a Processor + GPU pairing, accompanied with a decent motherboard. All for less than RM2500 if possible.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Hi Chocobo thanks for the reply! Anyways i forgot to mention in my post that i don't require a CDROM, casing, and a PSU (in fact, i'm using the PSU that you have listed there). Which frees up around RM600 in the budget. My enquiries are;

1) Is it worth paying a little extra to get an i7? As far as i know games these days are not able to fully utilize an i7, am i right?

2) Is there a significant difference between an ATI7950 and a Nvidia670?

Appreciate your help smile.gif

1) better save if for the GPU, a quad core like i5 is more than enough to not bottleneck the latest GPU generation. also, if you dont do CPU intensive tasks like data crunching, rendering etc, the i7 will be very underutilized

2) Benchmark shown here

After much reading, I'm stuck between the choice of a Sapphire 7950 which costs ~RM1000 and the Gigabyte 670 which costs ~RM1500. Huge difference, i know. What do you guys think about it? Is it worth paying that extra RM500 for the 670? My main concern right now is achieving a stable ~30fps @ 1920x1080 on highest/almost-highest settings on games such as Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite in the near future. Thoughts? Excuse any hint of arrogance as I have minimal knowledge when it comes to hardware.
