First of all, do you have a pair of high-quality speakers/headphones? It's pointless to have one if yours is a crappy one. tongue.gif

Yesterday I just discovered my Audigy 2 ZS got problem (suddenly no sound, game freeze follow by continuous beep sound, reboot system stuck at bios screen doh.gif ). The on-board Realtek feel like tak cukup omph. Therefore, I might considered for a future upgrade.

First time rig suggestion request! Not very up-to-date with latest and the most current builds so trying my luck here.

[Budget] RM5k max

[Purpose] PC Gaming

[Hardware that will be reused from old rig] Mouse (hahaha. no, seriously)

[Game or software that I frequently run] Sleeping Dogs, Dark Souls (2 hopefully), Dota 2, new games on above average settings.

[Personal Preference Brand] None

based on my experience on
- Creative x-fi xtrememusic
- Creative x-fi titanium (non-HD)
- Asus xonar u1
- Asus xonar dx

I personally prefer the sound produced by creative cards but dealing with Creative driver is killing me..

while the DX is quite good for that price which is cheaper than the titanium IINM hmm.gif

nevertheless, you do need to have a set of good speaker to fully enjoy the sound magic

How around the corner is around the corner? I have plenty of time.

Excellent build, btw. Has everything I wish I'd see on it!

Just want to know a general knowledge about RAMs: 1x8 vs 2x4, what's the diff?

Noo telling when exactly Haswell is coming, if you can wait just wait but if not, no biggie going for the current tech

Almost no different in terms of performance for normal use so just get the highest capacity you can per stick so that you can upgrade more in the future

Decided to dig a bit on Google and apparently:

+1, takes more than a month IMHO, as soon as they arrive prices are jacked up to take advantage of early adopters so it's usually best to wait until the price has stabilized before buying... there is also the question of drivers and software utilization to use the new tech effectively whistling.gif

interesting... hmm.gif not too sure how old is considered older PSU... I'm predicting a wave of problems here later as unscrupulous salespeople might try to push old tech off their shelves

The setup is good imo.
For ram, get single 8gb stick is cheaper than 4gb x2 and save ram slots for further upgrade if u desire.
Performance difference between ram in dual or single mode is very minimal, most likely the capacity of it plays the main role for multi-tasking or programs.

both specs are unbalanced, entry lvl GPU, no details of PSU hence it's overpriced IMHO...

whats your budget and usage???
