You can pick i5 but you will need to downgrade few item. B75 and H77 link. IPS give user more vivid colour & wide viewing angle.

For Borderlands 2, you can refer to this review: Borderlands 2 GPU & CPU Performance Test: CPU Performance. If you want maximum quality and smooth gameplay plus best visuals, both the CPU (preferably Core i5) and GPU (preferably most powerful graphics card you can afford) must be adequate. hmm.gif

My little brother rig:

Possessor : AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ (2 CPUs), ~ 2.8GHz with Hyper 212 Plus cooler.

Memory : 4GB Ram DDR2 (Brought DDR3 1600 4GBx2 G.SKILL RAM)

MotherBoard : GA-MA770-DS3

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT

Power Supply : Huntkey AFPC 700W. (Reuse if possible, but review says this brand is problematic)

Casing: (Reuse)

- 1920xs1080p Monitor
- play all modern at High/Medium setting games.
- No OC
- Only gaming purpose.

With maximum budget RM800, how should I upgrade this old rig ?

What I planed is change a new MOBO and CPU 1st. But I am afraid of bottleneck by GT9600.

hmm.gif Looks like you would need an overhaul... considering the board only supports a Phenom I.., and doesn't support a Phenom II....
Sell the CPU and GPU and go for this...
Pentium G620-RM174
MSI H61M-P31-RM149
Sapphire HD7850 1GB-RM599
Total: RM922...
Overbudget already.... unless you sell the CPU and the GPU...
I'd recommend you to get the 2GB version of the card considering some games may require more than 1GB VRAM in 1080p...

9600GT won't be sufficient for full HD resolution unless you go for very low settings...

Yes but with your graphic card modern high setting not really possible.

Save up more budget cause changing your CPU and mobo + the RAM wont make significant FPS gain without a good graphic card to pair it with.

Actually RM800 is only for MOBO and GPU, I'll change the GPU a month after

Now targeting i5-3470 and any MOBO below RM200.

But I doubt the is not noticeable improvement in gaming.

GPU Comparison http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=647

IF budget allows, add 60GB SSD.
