sweat.gif "Need help on oral..." i got cheated to view this thread.

Anyway natural disaster includes forest fires, flash floods, tsunami, landslides etc.

Forest fire: government can proceed on more artificial rain during dry seasons, and it is plain dumb to wait till forest fires occurs only send helicopters to put them off. Besides, campaign to advice rural ppl not to open burning is a good way to prevent forest fire too.

Flash floods: proper planning on drainage system perhaps? Not much can be done though... upholding moral values and do not litter in rivers and longkangs might help, a little.

Tsunami: i don't think there's anyway to stop it. Prevention yes, real-time monitoring on weather changes might help to predict storms and tsunamis.

Landslide: Hmm... engineers should investigate and plan properly before they start to demolish anything. And besides that the government should constantly monitor every construction in this country especially those beside hills.

You remember that you can only predict and detect a possible disaster but you cannot prevent it.

Plus, a very effective and fast communication system from the detection points is required to alert the nation for preparation and some follow-up actions in order to reduce or minimize the impact of the disaster. You can't stop it from happening.

The Power of Three will set us free.

lisan a...seems so long ago...

since u've got around 2~3 mins for that speech...

well, yrh0413 and David83 got some good points...but it's best to tackle at most two to three disasters, and focus on the cara-cara...dun just focus on "what gov need to do", remember the "org ramai"...and try to give isi that touch on each of Politikal, Ekonomi, Sosial things(note: applies to karangan as well)
in this case, probably can use a line or two to round up the benefits of doing the prevention langkah...or mayb sth better...

oh...btw, use sth that happen more often than the other...tsunami sounds terrific and the impact greatly felt, but too many descriptions on the dmg does no good and langkah of prevention seems measly and almost impossibly implemented here...flash floods are a good idea, and is a result combo of natural AND human errors, so there...and mentioning it...fast, might ring a bell if anyone remembers the flash flood in shah alam and somewhere else not too long ago...

That's just IMHO...my 2 sen...

No reasons.. Just amazed at how fast 10 years is.. And when you think about "10 years ago", is no longer the 90's, it's freaking 2005
