BTW, in 1984 they still serve you at the table. Not like now, wait in line and order at counter (self-service). Those days still full service restaurant, using proper stoneware glace plates and fork and knife.

Interesting to compare price 1984 with today, if anyone has photo to share!

i remember my folks bringing me for an xmas dinner at their subang jaya outlet next to the driving range (it's not there anymore) and the colonel was dressed as santa claus.

anyone remember kfc selling a portable radio in the shape of the pressure cooker they use? good times.

The use of the dollar sign "$" (or "M$") was not replaced by "RM" (Ringgit Malaysia) until around 1993, though internationally "MYR" (MY being the country code for Malaysia) is more widely used.

1984... i remember that time i just entered secondary school. my dad was working as a factory supervisor earning rm2.3k.

he bought a CBU toyota camry (with automatic radio antenna at the back) 2.0 liter and the car is very big. i remember every weekend he will force my sis to play the computer. there's a game for children to train their maths. so if my sis able to get 50% and above, that nite whole family eat KFC. i love the babana split.

life back then was syok. i stay in kl, and yet my childhood i get to do like bakar mercun depan balai polis, climb the tree, pancing ikan at the river with my melei frens. then the KTM kl station was like my 'tempat lepak' always travel with that epik ktm.

poket money was rm1 saja. rm1 was like KING to me, even for high school student.

Kampong is right. Use to have $ sign with two down strokes. We also had 500 and 1000 denominations then until 1998 crisis to prevent money laundering!

which was how the mentality of these type of fast food being "high-class" was ingrained in malaysians...on another note, the menu does look nostalgic...

yep, back then, overseas students particularly those who were sent to uk, learned what hijab can serve them, thus many od them returned to malaysia wearing tudung labuh meanwhile in malaysia girls were wearin skirts. the dakwah also made islamic awareness increases over the time. people started to know ehat they should b doing what should not. of course there are always some exceptions to this - those who dont care.
