Bro, still not manage to root Q5II yet.

You cannot stream from Samba shared folder? Samba client is build in Q5II as well as the samba daemon available in Q5II.

Hi,i manage to root my Q5 II with this method smile.gif but if only you can read chinese, and i only did it on firmware 102...

laugh.gif its quite fun for me..

I have a general idea how himedia video player is able to play samba file. Following their way, I am able to play any file using Himedia player without using their  "Samba" interface... with this, i can now link my xbmc to my NAS and get play back using himedia player (also works for mxplayer). Both mxplayer and himedia player can now play my samba share without a problem.

Previously, it only works for local playback.

But currently its not perfect yet, without root, I need to perform one additional step everytime i boot up my himedia...

Hi,did you mean after q5 completely boot up,you just click himedia smb interface to your smb share once, and himedia will create your smb share on local path as a folder, then you just link this path within your xbmc?is it this way you did?

Actually it's very easy:

1.download from above web site i posted earlier,you got 海美迪Q5-II Root.rar
2.turn on you Q5 and get it's ip address afterwards leave it on
3.Please make sure Q5 and PC are on same local network...
4.extract Q5-II root.rar to your pc desktop,double click on 海美迪Q5-II Root.exe,on my wins 7 it's
just display garbled codes, anyways you just keys in your Q5 ip adress like:192.168.1.xxx then press ENTER,wait until its finish
5.maybe you need to reboot your Q5 afterwards, check for superman-android like logo,it is supersu
6.download root checker from play store if it is proper root.

Please note:
1.If you cannot root it 1st time, you may need to kill adb.exe in task manager or reboot your pc or redownload archive and try again
2.you might need to temporary shut down your pc's firewalls or antivirus, because ADB use port 5555 to communicate with Q5
3.Try to use hard wire, avoid wireless...
4.you should check with nicety this was actually void warrenty if you have purchased from nicety?
5.Lastly i am NOT responsible for any loss or damage to your device tongue.gif ,I am just sharing what i found...

By the way,I root my Q5 II just to mount my NAS NFS share on boot up automatically,so i can use it with xbmc tongue.gif there is
unnecessary to root if you are just normal user...

Hi, how do I check the IP address for my q5 II?
*
If you're using wireless,then click [setting]>[wireless],then click ssid(wifi connection)name,you see it...

If you are using wire connection, then click [setting]>[Ethernet]then you can see it under ip address...

Thank you so much for your root tip. Now I have manage to do exactly what I wanted. I prepared a small script to run at boot up to mount the directory automatically.

I couldn't find an app to do the mount for me.

Did you use an app or a script to auto mount it?

haha,good for you... rclxms.gif

I used script manager and little script search from xda,and it must use busybox to launch script...

Thank you so much bro. Sincerely appreciated your sharing, keep it up  rclxms.gif

In the past, I am use to find technical solution from the oversea forum but I never contribute any solution or share my info in the forum. Therefore I decided to do it differently and share as much as I could in the forum. Surprisingly, my customers also share back the information with me in return. At the end I am benefit from it as well.

I hope I could encourage the sharing concept among the Malaysian, to build the knowledge base. I noticed some oversea Himedia users read this thread as well. Hope more ppl could benefit from this thread in order to maximize the functionality of the box.

Once again, thank you very much for your sharing. Btw, pm me your email, I should have your record in my database.

I have reset the box and installed with less applications. Now the device is working fine. Thanks.

you can actually swap between internal storage and sdcard, himedia supported it natively, its under 'setting'→'default storage equipment'...
