xbmc 12.3 is not working well for me too demanding for the weak cpu, so far the best versions without external player is Gotham monthly 8,after that one none works and justxbmc for ouya but without audio pass through the later. I play files from nfs nas and hisilicon as external player does not work from lan. I don't believe that himedia can deliver a good xbmc version for non emmc model. By the way 1.0.5 has a different interface a lot stream channels from China, useless for a Greek like me AND no Google playstore and browser. Playstore crashes if you install manually... useless firmware revision.

Bro, the best way to play movies from USB, SATA, NFS, SAMBA is via Himedia Native Player, goto file manager or Media Center. I do not advise to use XBMC for local streaming. Use XBMC only for online streaming such as 1Channel, Icefilm and etc.

P/S : The China firmware(Mango HiQ) is designed for China market use only, there is no Google Play Store build in. China has their own apps store because Google is banned in China.

Just thought I would share that I have xbmc running perfectly including Blu ray folder and iso playback (including 3d rclxm9.gif ) from with xbmc as well as full HD Audio passthrough via hdmi.

This is running on the q10ii eMMC version, but the q5ii is much the same.

Here is a link to the xbmc.apk i used that is good to go, just change the language to your needs and the audio output (7.1 for full HD via hdmi)

Hi Nicety,
Why the native player load and play my movies from USB very slow ? Sometimes it took more than 1 minute to play the movie. The MPEG4 movie file size is about 100MB. Sometimes it load and play immediately. Any idea ?

Thanks

Pls pm or email me the detail how do you load the movies into native player, from Media center, file manager or 3rd party apps. Let me understand your scenario before give you an answer. If possible please capture the screen where you wait for 1 minutes.

Pls find below link to XBMC, 12.3 is the stable version.

http://xbmc.org/download/
Info to share with all :

If you use XUNITY to watch TV Shows, pls goto VIDEOS menu instead of XUNITY menu. XUNITY TV shows menu sometime crash halfway. If you still using 12.2 or 13.0 Beta XBMC, pls upgrade to Frodo 12.3 which is more stable.

Sure, you can installed Xfinity on Frodo 12.3.

Just goto my skydrive, look for the user guide "5 Steps quick restore addon after reinstall XBMC". I am uploading the config files xbmc.zip now, just download zip files and follow the instruction then you will get the Xfinity installed. PM me if you need help.

Bro, I do not recommend to use unknown source firmware. Officially, Himedia do not release 1.0.6 firmware.

Thank you for clarification bro. Is there any reason not to use Himedia recommended way to upgrade the firmware but use Nova launcher?

am i right in thinking all Samba / SMB play back from an SMB share is borked in current firmwares for the q5/q10II?

I am having significant issues with this the only way I can do it is through es explorer or for iso dvd files through xmbc?

Are you confused by the below topic #1216 ?

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2598907/+1215

The SMB client could be found under MediaCenter -> LAN. Beside SMB, it support NFS and UPNP as well.

user posted image

Of course if you installed ES Explorer, you have another option to access to SMB shared.

I have installed a version of 1.0.5 from a link i found in chinnese himedia Facebook Web Page, in my q5ii nand .There two versions with different interface mango or 1.0.2 firmware style. I have installed the second and it has YouTube working and also Google play. The size is 355mb,not 268 mb as in the first 1.0.5 posted in himedia forum 2 weeks ago . If someone has emmc a beta 1.0.6 has improved 3d playback for comfortable viewing, that if it is true it will be nice because I find 3d playback from q5ii a lot worse than 3d from pc.
