You know what does a thermostat do?

Any liquid-cooled car engine has a small device called the thermostat that sits between the engine and the radiator. The thermostat in most cars is about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter. Its job is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up.

What I noticed in traffic jam is, my OBD2 reports coolant temperature swinging from 88-95 repeatedly. The original thermostat lets my engine heat up till 95C before it opens the water flow for a while, then repeats. I guess this will cause thermal shocks on my engine block too, causing valve recession or worse, valve bent. Moreover hot engine block causes unwanted detonation that reduces performance.

I only changed the thermostat today, my temperature is maximally at 88C. With new thermostat, the engine really benefited a lot from the moving air during highway drive. With the good water flow, the radiator manage to cool down the temperature to 81 when I drive at highway.

is the thermostat universal type? wanna try on my other car as that car's thermostat opening range is 87-102, means 102 only fully open!

With Persona, who can stay 110KM/H on PLUS highway? I need a car plate flipper

Pay or wait for discount?

i'm one of the persona hatchback cruising 80-110km/h(depend speed limit) comfortably on PLUS highway, always lift off throttle when car is 105km/h like that.
Touchwood so far did not get any saman yet, hopefully can maintain this record.

It's flooded in your car  cool2.gif

Any idea where comes the water? I opened door panel, found the plastic sheet still intact, just some little part the black glue not stick properly, but i don't think that was the root cause...icon_question.gif

Water seems entering from here after overflow:

My car is far less serious. I can't imagine if my car flooded. I'll yell at Proton right away

So far what COSE/SC technician did to your car? Did they change the rubber lining? Or also open door panel and do something on the plastic sheet?

They changed everything they could. Except for glass and door.

The lining that contacts the glass is called run channel. The rubber that contacts with the door frame is called weather strip. The plastic sheet is called weather sheet.

So all 3 items changed still the same? Fed up with these kind of silly problem, takes more time to find the root cause...
