FS might be able to withstand 10K mileage but question is our filter really up to par for it. I'm still not comfortable with 10K FS change. Might be able to last but to maintain clean and long term OPTIMUM engine performance, IMO, 10K change might have an impact on the gradual performance reduction but no proof of that as each car differs due to driving condition, style and engine maintenance thingy and not to mention luck.
I'll keep to my 5-6K schedule for FS or 6 months whichever comes first. No worries on lube filteration issue later in its life. I still keep all my cars at optimum performance even nearing 10 years (last time....).
Added on December 26, 2012, 8:59 amNo Semi is technically almost the same with mineral with very small addition of synthetic based. So its a bit better but in reality, not too much difference. So both are 5K maint schedule. Many used 7K to JUSTIFY the higher price....but that is not how the lube works.
FS however is different. Most FS is using Group 3+ hydrocracked mineral with a small percentage of synthetic based, way more than semi but still at most 20-30% only. The mineral lube here is refined to a stage most contaminants that exist in the mineral and semi lube are filtered out. Its refined performance has almost reached the REAL FS lube that used ester or PAO albeit without the inherent properties of real FS (such as naturally much higher VI without addictives, much better natural contaminant suspension, much better lubrication and heat resistance with thin cold start properties)...but still miles ahead of standard mineral and semi.
So there is my doubt earlier of FS going up to and above 10K mileage as it is not real FS unless you're using AMSOIL, etc. However lube tech has improved so much, FS should be able to perform longer BUT while lube tech goes up oil filter remains the same tech thus the down point for me. Also better engine tech with better filteration system with higher QC level also increase lube life but I still have great doubt of our CAMPRO "tech" level and QC level.
Nice! Thanks for explaining that. So other than royal purple, amsoil, liquimoly etc (boutique oils) it's not recommended to go up to 7k eh.

If your SC allow outside engine oil, get Havoline Semi Syn 10W40 from Caltex station. Same price but difference in performance is noticeable from engine noise, acceleration and vibration.
Use liquimoly
