Wind noise. Car's being resprayed and the door visors should have been taken off. They haven't been put back on or so I heard from the shop owner.

If the car looks weird without the visors then maybe I may keep it .

Not much difference. Minimal in fact.

However if you do a lot of cold start (ie. highlands, very early morning start, etc), its always safer to use a thinner viscosity.

IMO (can't confirm since it can be debated), while at operating temperature, both will be the same at 30 viscosity, during cold start, 5W will be at 5 while 10W will be thicker. My earlier understanding is cold start at our weather, 5W and 10W will be same thickness. After a few read and master posts all over, I comes to believe 5W will stay 5W during our weather cold start while 10W will be at 10W at the cold start.

5W has extra capabilities of REMAINING at same FLUIDITY at freezing temperature vs the 10W. So my new conclusion is that even at our weather cold start, 5W will start thinner than 10W. More addictives is needed tho...in order to lower the viscosity thus as mentioned before, the bad only happens if lube is overused.

5W or 10W ONLY matter for cold start in our weather. Currently I strongly believe cold start matters the most due to most wear on engine comes from there. Since I never overuse my lube (changed at 5K), the extra addictives needed to bring down the viscosity never got sheared to the stage of high viscosity during cold start, the thinner cold start fluidity helps more than 10W. Those who like extended usage of lube, then 10W might be better coz less addictives was used, less viscosity changes once the lube are sheared.

As for the 30 vs 40 weight. 30 is good for economical and city drive. Thinner is indeed better for everyday drive. I used 30 for all my vehicles except for campro BECOZ proton recommend min. of 40 for it. Probably due to campro being a high rev engine where most torque comes in at later stage, 40 might be a better engine wear protection due to its capability of withstanding higher temp. So if you drive high rev and speed A LOT and MOST OF TIME, actually 40 will be a better choice.

For most modern car, 30 is more than sufficient. Campro engine not very modern....if you really compare with most branded car makers. The newer campro engine with CPS and above all goes for 30 liao. I believe due to their better cooling system kuah....

But min. listed is 40, so play safe, go for 40 for balanced performance. 50 is really outdated. No one uses 50 unless its an old car where the gap between the piston and wall has gotten bigger due to wear. Of course those racing kaki with extreme constant high temp....might need it. Our PE campro got abandon liao since new CPS and aboves goes for 30 liao as a default lube.

Kenny friend is not wrong in saying 30 and 40 got the same wear. It does at normal everyday driving and mid-range speed temp (below 140 kuah)...Its only at high constant speed...that 40 makes a difference vs 30 in wear as its thicker lube can still go further when thin....while 30 thinner lube will shear to a stage it might render inefficient causing engine to lose power, etc. However this should only occurs if you always runs at constant high speed. At low to medium-high speed with occasional high speed, 30 same wear rate.

Cavino, pardon if I wasn't paying any attention, from your saying, you mentioned old car (maybe) might need a higher number, 50? What if I have a non-IAFM Persona, 5 years old, what number would you recommend? I want to change the lube ASAP.

Full synthetic oil is better for new car indeed. 10k service . 

Extended period or overused mileage means more den 10k for FS right?
