iPod is the most 'happening' mp3 player. In the world. Worldwide its the most used mp3 player. PodCasts are being created everyday, every hour, every minute. Podcasts of everything. TV shows are being made in iPod format so people can download it, and the world of the iPod keeps expanding, making it the dominating player in many many countries.
People alwas say that the next mp3 player will be the "iPod killer", but so far none has really been able to do that, because of iPods reputation and popularity that has already taken the whole world by storm.

Hahaha..

I have to admit that all of the iPod's features play a part in me going for a unit... But the main one has to be the design... I mean, which other MP3 player has that cool design with the nice, large screen as well as the convenience of just moving your finger left and right on the circular click-wheel to adjust volume?

Not forgetting the fact that the iPod is, just like what hydrogen said, the world's most popular music player... And because of the iPod, it completely turned-around Apple Computer back into a major player in the business...

And remember what is now known as the "iPod economy"? So many different products and gadgets are being made specially for the iPod today... It is hard to think of any other music player that can generate such business for the third-party producers out there...

ME TOO!!!

but the main reason was the SEAMLESS INTEGRATION with what is arguably the best MP3 library management software in the world.

Man I second this. iTunes is way better than WMP for me. It's my default media player for music. smile.gif

I wouldn't be suprised if this was the case. When I was in the States last year, I noticed that MANY teenagers had iPods. In fact, it's quite normal to see people having the telltale white earphones sticking in their ears while walking around town. smile.gif

Just to add to this, i never knew how low Malaysians could go but, i've seen many people using the Ipod earbuds with cheap Apple knockoffs tongue.gif, as long as nobody sees the player whistling.gif

I'd always recommend a earbud replacement ASAP, the stock ones make my ears stick and wet, and i really don't get what's the deal with wearing them as a fashion statement. Ultimate Ears UE-1 PRO, now that's a statement! tongue.gif

Reason i use an Ipod? Simple, Itunes, no software out there is easier to use, plus i can actually listen to previews of songs before i go out to Tower to buy them. And to add to that, the interface is just smooth and slick, fluid indeed.

Anyways interms of Audio quality, no insult to the Ipod. but the Iriver wins hands down, listened to 2 brought in by a german pal and they were sweet.

Ugh that's just plain sick. How lame can people get. laugh.gif

Oh, and speaking about iTunes, another thing I like is their variety of streaming audio channels. I never fail to have something to listen to. thumbup.gif

Same here, my man... Since i got the iPod, iTunes has become my primary music player! biggrin.gif

And just like what jhcj said, what other music player comes with such clear and large choice of streaming radio stations? Not forgetting the podcasts and videos as well...

OMG... people using iPod earphones for cheap ripoff mp3 players? thats just dumb. What happens when they want to skip a song? do they run off to the toilet to take out their mp3 player so no one can see it? haha

anywayz, yeah, iTunes the bomb. Haven't been able to use anything other than it ever since i got it.

i agree with Empire23. why stick with the regular iPod earphones anyway? switch to something better. And yeah, iRivers really good. but Apple's overall impress me much more.

Just pathetic if you ask me laugh.gif if you can't afford one, don't need to be a poser. Just accept that you just don't have one. Done. Malaysians tongue.gif

Normally the just sift through their pockets to reach their cap ayam MP3 player's knob to skip. Usual excuse? Didn't buy the remote control XD

Anyways the only MP3 player i've known is my IPod, so i might be biased for it. But then again, it's a superbly built and styled player. Plus it can play the FLAC and ALAC files i use with nary a hitch.

That reminds me, prepping Ipod for surgery, battery is near dewm liow.

LOL, if you're a bonified warranty voider. Try rockbox, free and lovely open source. But don't expect it to be rock solid even at it's most stable, i do encounter a few problems.
