Try Robyncom or OP in LYP, dont go to those big big one like Sri Computer and All IT as they seldom carry this kind of stuff. But personaly i use AS5 and tiny bit of super glue at the corner. And my VGA ram never go above 40C even when gaming. |

Ramsink adhesive ==> careful when you using it. it cannot be removed after you stick it to.
double sided tape ==> never try to use this. double side tape is non thermal conductive at all. AS5 and tiny bit of super glue at the cornor ==> i agree this solution too! great idea! Sri Comp really s*ck. please never go to there! you will regret! you can have Actic silver 5 at Rubycon at RM25. or you can try lowyat forumer here, only RM20+. |

QUOTE(cpteoh @ Mar 5 2006, 08:53 PM) Ramsink adhesive ==> careful when you using it. it cannot be removed after you stick it to. When i try to stick those Heavy Vantec Copper BGA Ramsink on my 6800GS, it keeps falling off 1 by 1 ( Heat it up with hair dryer before sticking it on the ram chip though ). Lucky i got a Vantec Fan Card ( Disconnected just in case it happened ) below my card, otherwise it will go straight to my Audigy2 ZS and short cicuit and if u are lucky may be only the A2 will be fry. So my advice to not to use thermal tape, unless u are very very sure that it will stick well.double sided tape ==> never try to use this. double side tape is non thermal conductive at all. This tape has a black, rubbery appearance, which looks different from the ones that I usually come across. How much does MyPC sell their thermal tape? |

Thick ones don't do anything IMO. Tapes do not conduct heat well in the first place, so if it is thicker - it is even worse. Heat trapped on the DDR chips itself. If you are going with tape, get the thinnest one possible. 3M ones are quite good. Or you can try Shinetsu Thermal pads (http://sidewindercomputers.com/akshintherin.html). But I would prefer bonding the heatsinks permanently to the chips itself with Artic Silver or Artic Alumina Adhesive. Max performance! lol |

Thanks for the info guys! Artic silver 5, is it the heat compound for CPU? i think i still have it with me. Thinking of making it permanent, so how are we going to install the ramsinks using AS5 and superglue? Any precaution? Thanks for the advices in advance : )

UHU is not recomended at all. It will degrade the thermal compound that you're using and increase the overall temp. Beware about that.

ARGHH !!...Does IT REally DEGRADES the TherMal Compound ?? I think i have to cabut a lot of my heatsinks then, most of them are applied with COOling FLow Thermal Compund + UHU . it does stick. but i think have to cabut it NOW. So i should use any GAM GAJAH ? |

best thermal tape supposed be black color & thin. Very very very thin sheet.
3M Thermal tape the best of all I encountered so far. When chip heats up, the tape will get more "sticky" and guarantee chips won't fall off. Before sticking, be sure to clean of ur ram's surface free from greesy stuff like thermal cream & all .. P/S : True thermal tape is easily removed when chip is cold. If u find the "thermal tape" difficult to remove ... it could be double sided tape. My 3M thermal tape come in : 1 strip. Each strip has 4pcs. Each piece is 20mm x 20mm RM 2 per strip This post has been edited by uglyvamp: May 4 2006, 10:10 PM |
